White Oak Wind Orchestra Takes Audiences on a Musical Adventure with ‘The Final Frontier’ October 25 in Magnolia
Families looking for something different to do this weekend in the Magnolia area can enjoy an evening of live music without spending a dime. The White Oak Wind Orchestra is bringing its upcoming symphonic concert, The Final Frontier, to Magnolia on Sunday, October 25, 2026, offering residents an opportunity to experience the sound of a full wind orchestra right in their own community.
The free concert begins at 5 p.m. at Wildwood United Methodist Church, located at 8911 FM 1488 in Magnolia, Texas. Admission is free, and attendees can reserve their tickets online.
For residents of Magnolia, The Woodlands, Tomball, Conroe and nearby Montgomery County neighborhoods, the performance offers an affordable way to spend a Sunday evening together while supporting musicians who are helping make live orchestral music more accessible throughout the North Houston area.
The Final Frontier Brings Adventure and Exploration to the Concert Stage
With a theme centered on adventure and discovery, The Final Frontier invites audiences to experience music inspired by the wonders of exploration, from the vastness of outer space to the skies, oceans, mountains and rugged landscapes closer to home.
The concert's theme offers plenty of room for imagination, whether audience members are longtime fans of symphonic music or are attending their first wind orchestra performance.
Unlike a traditional symphony orchestra, which typically includes a large string section, a wind orchestra features woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. The combination allows musicians to create everything from delicate, expressive passages to powerful, cinematic sounds that can fill a concert hall.
For families with children involved in school band programs, the performance is also an opportunity to see experienced musicians continuing to play and develop their talents beyond their school years. Young musicians can hear the instruments they may be learning in class performed as part of a larger ensemble.
The concert is open to the community, and no admission fee is required.
Meet the White Oak Wind Orchestra: A Montgomery County Nonprofit Bringing Musicians Together
Founded in 2024 in Montgomery County, The White Oak Wind Orchestra is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making quality musical performances available to the community while giving local musicians opportunities to continue growing as performers.
Although the orchestra is relatively new, its mission reaches beyond the concert stage.
The organization was established to encourage appreciation for the musical arts, strengthen relationships among local musical groups and provide a welcoming environment where musicians can collaborate, learn and continue doing something they love.
Its plans include presenting several concerts each year and forming smaller ensembles to participate in community events such as parades and festivals.
For adults who played an instrument in high school or college, opportunities like these can be especially meaningful. Once school ends, finding an organized ensemble in which to continue performing is not always easy. Community orchestras help fill that gap, giving musicians a reason to keep practicing, reconnect with their instruments and build friendships with others who share their interests.
That sense of connection is an important part of what the White Oak Wind Orchestra hopes to cultivate throughout Montgomery County and the greater North Houston area.
Local Music Educators Help Lead the Orchestra
The White Oak Wind Orchestra is led by Music Director Adam Haskett, who studied Music Education at Lamar University and has an extensive background in performance, composition and community music.
In addition to directing the orchestra, Haskett serves as an assistant director and trombonist with The Prevailing Winds. He also performs with The Fellowship of the Swing Big Band and several chamber ensembles throughout the region.
Haskett is a published composer with TRN Music Publisher, and his compositions have been performed by ensembles across the country. His experience as both a performer and composer helps shape the orchestra's approach to wind ensemble music.
Working alongside him is Kyle Manuel, the orchestra's assistant music director and president.
A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, Manuel teaches elementary music and remains active as a performing musician. Like Haskett, he serves as an assistant director and trombonist with The Prevailing Winds, performs with The Fellowship of the Swing Big Band and participates in regional chamber ensembles.
Their combined experience in music education and performance supports the orchestra's goal of creating opportunities for musicians while introducing more residents to live instrumental music.
The nonprofit's board of directors also includes Vice President Mary Calizzi, Treasurer Marguerite Cranford and Secretary Andy Prochaska.
