Texas Pride Memorial Day Trash Pickup Pause Announced for The Colonies Residents

Texas Pride Memorial Day Trash Pickup Pause Announced for The Colonies Residents

May 06 2026

Residents across The Colonies communities served by Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 102 (HCMUD102) should plan ahead for Memorial Day weekend, as Texas Pride Disposal has announced there will be no trash pickup on Monday, May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day.

The temporary service interruption affects regular Monday collection routes and is part of the company’s holiday schedule observed throughout the Greater Houston area. For families preparing for gatherings, cookouts, or long weekend travel, the adjustment may mean fuller bins and a need to hold household waste an extra day depending on the district’s revised collection schedule.

Memorial Day is one of the busier weekends of the year for many neighborhoods across The Colonies, making advance planning especially important for residents managing additional household trash, yard waste, or recycling after celebrations and family events.

HCMUD102 shared the notice with residents to help homeowners avoid missed set-outs and unnecessary inconvenience during the holiday week. Residents are encouraged to monitor official district communications and Texas Pride updates for any adjusted pickup timing or makeup collection information.

For many neighborhoods throughout The Colonies, reliable trash and recycling service remains an important part of maintaining curb appeal, neighborhood cleanliness, and community pride — especially during major holiday weekends when activity throughout residential areas tends to increase.

Residents may also want to avoid placing bins at the curb too early if service is delayed.

As Memorial Day approaches, community leaders continue encouraging residents to plan ahead, honor the holiday safely, and stay informed about local service updates affecting their neighborhoods.
