Taco Palenque Expands in Northwest Houston with New Spring Town Center Location

December 01 2025

Spring-area foodies, get ready to say “¡Buen provecho!” Taco Palenque, the fast-casual Mexican chain with deep roots in South Texas, is set to open a new location at Spring Town Center in early 2026. The popular eatery will join the thriving shopping center at the intersection of Kuykendahl Road and FM 2920, bringing its signature blend of fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and warm hospitality to one of Northwest Houston’s fastest-growing communities.

According to a recent state permit filing, Taco Palenque will occupy a 3,654-square-foot space at 21430 Kuykendahl Rd., with a projected completion date of February 2026. The site, ground-leased from NewQuest Properties, will undergo interior renovations totaling $75,000 to outfit the space for dine-in and takeout service. Kevin Sims and Lara Lee LaMendola of NewQuest represented the landlord in the transaction, while Harrison Mohn of BCS Capital Group represented the tenant.

Fresh Mex with Deep Roots

Taco Palenque isn’t just another taco shop. Founded by Don Pancho Ochoa—also the founder of El Pollo Loco—the brand launched in Laredo, Texas, and has grown into a regional favorite with 40 locations in the U.S. (two of which are in Houston) and three in Mexico. Known for its fresh, made-to-order meals and drive-thru convenience, the restaurant has earned a reputation for serving real Mexican food that feels like it came straight from your abuela’s kitchen.

At the heart of the menu are the tacos—of course. Guests can choose from classics like the Pirata Taco, a fan favorite made with juicy fajita, refried beans, and melted cheddar cheese on two soft flour tortillas, or go lighter with options like the Baja Fish Taco or Al Pastor, marinated pork with pineapple in a corn tortilla.

Combos like the Matamoros Tacos, served with guacamole and fresh cheese on lightly fried corn tortillas, and the Casero Combo with two sirloin tacos and a warm bowl of sopa de fideo, round out the lunch and dinner offerings. You’ll also find hearty quesadillas, crispy tacos, fajita-packed parrilladas, and full plates of grilled meats with sides like rice, beans, and guacamole.

And yes, breakfast is served all day—with Huevos Rancheros, Potato & Egg Tacos, Chilaquiles, and even Breakfast Burritos loaded with eggs, cheese, beans, and your choice of protein. Coffee, horchata, and fresh juices complement the morning menu, while dessert lovers will appreciate sweet treats like Tres Leches Cake and Traditional Flan.

A Welcome Addition to Spring Town Center

The Spring Town Center development continues to grow as a major retail and dining destination in the region. Anchored by big names like Walmart, Lowe’s, Cinemark, and Sprouts Market, the center draws more than 8.3 million annual visits and is surrounded by rapidly expanding residential neighborhoods including Spring Terrace, Springbrook, and Klein Crossing.

Taco Palenque’s arrival adds to the center’s evolving mix of local and national brands, joining recent additions like CityVet and HI POT. The new restaurant is expected to create local jobs and become a go-to destination for both quick weekday meals and family dinners on weekends.
