Super Dave’s All Abilities Park Breaks Ground in Fulshear, Creating Space for Every Child to Play
A new chapter in community inclusion began on October 28, 2025, as Fort Bend County officials, local leaders, and residents gathered to officially break ground on Super Dave’s All Abilities Park, a 1.6-acre, fully accessible play space located at 4200 Fulshear Katy Rd, Katy, TX 77494. With trails connecting it to Cross Creek Ranch, the park is set to become a vibrant hub for children of all abilities to play, splash, and grow together.
Fort Bend County Precinct 1 Commissioner Vincent Morales marked the moment with heartfelt words: “Today, we officially broke ground on Super Dave’s All Abilities Park—a place where every child, regardless of ability, can play, explore and grow together,” he said. “A huge thanks to Johnson Development for generously donating the land to the County and to the City of Fulshear for being such an amazing collaborating partner. Your support is helping turn a dream into a reality.”
A Park Built on Legacy and Community
The park is named in honor of David “Super Dave” D’Andrea, a longtime community servant and one of the founding board members of Fort Bend County MUD 169 in Cross Creek Ranch. D’Andrea served the MUD for over 15 years and passed away in August 2021. Known as a dedicated family man and avid fisherman, he gave his time generously to local organizations and his church. Like Abe and Lizzie Daily Park, which was named through a donation in memoriam, Cross Creek Ranch and Johnson Development requested this park be named Super Dave’s All Abilities Park in tribute to his legacy.

The land for the park was donated in 2019 by Johnson Development and Cross Creek Ranch, reinforcing their long-standing commitment to community enrichment.
A $3.4 Million Investment in Inclusion
Super Dave’s All Abilities Park is designed to ensure that no child is left out of the fun. With a $3.4 million investment funded through Fort Bend County’s 2023 Parks Bond and cooperative purchasing agreements, the park will feature:
- Three distinct play zones tailored for different age groups and developmental needs
- An inclusive splash pad, built by Aquatix and designed with multiple zones for toddlers, families, and high-energy play
- Accessible playground equipment, musical instruments, sensory panels, and shaded pavilions
- Connection to Cross Creek Ranch trails, offering safe and scenic access for nearby families
- Concrete pathways, seating, and shaded areas to support caregivers and create a welcoming environment for all
Construction will be led by D.L. Meacham, the Houston-based contractor awarded the project, with a target completion time of 275 calendar days.

Unlike typical playgrounds, Super Dave’s All Abilities Park was designed with the understanding that inclusive design isn’t just about ramps—it’s about creating shared experiences. Every play zone, musical element, climbing structure, and water feature invites kids of all abilities to interact side by side, cultivating empathy, imagination, and friendship from a young age.
The splash pad, for example, includes interactive features such as Arch Jets, Crown Jets, and a RippleRun water tunnel, with dynamic zones that cater to different energy levels and developmental stages. Ground-level sprays are included for toddlers and children with mobility devices, ensuring safety and fun for all.
Looking Ahead
With the groundwork now laid, Super Dave’s All Abilities Park is poised to become one of the most inclusive public spaces in the Fort Bend County region—and a cherished place for families in Fulshear and beyond. As construction progresses, residents can expect a vibrant destination that blends play, nature, and community spirit in honor of a man who gave so much to both.
