Sunterra’s Sol Club Lagoon Amenity Village Now Open: New Crystal Lagoons® Feature Anchors Community Expansion
The newly completed Sol Club Lagoon Amenity Village is now open in Sunterra, adding a 2.7-acre lagoon and multiple recreational features to the growing Katy development. Located a few miles north of I-10 and west of the Grand Parkway, the opening marks a significant expansion of resident amenities for one of West Houston’s most active master-planned communities.
The focal point of the new amenity village is a Crystal Lagoons®-engineered water feature, designed to mimic a beach environment with turquoise water and a white-sand shoreline. The lagoon is now open for non-motorized water activities like swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding, exclusive to Sunterra residents.
Inside the Sol Club: Lagoon and More
According to the site plan provided by developers, the Sol Club Lagoon Amenity Village is more than just a water attraction. It includes a full range of outdoor and social spaces aimed at community gathering and recreation. The Sol Club Lagoon Amenity Village features sports fields, an event lawn for outdoor programming, and a 2.7-acre Crystal Lagoon at the center of the development.
Surrounding the lagoon are a clubhouse for resident events, a boardwalk, a sand beach, and a designated swim zone. Additional amenities include pickleball courts, the Corner Park playground, horseshoe pits, and Central Park, a general-use green space. Each area is interwoven with walking paths and landscaping designed to encourage residents to move freely between active and leisure spaces.

How the Crystal Lagoons® Technology Works
The Crystal Lagoons® system uses a proprietary purification method that combines low levels of chemical additives with ultrasonic waves. This allows the system to treat large volumes of water with fewer resources compared to traditional pools.
The technology, remotely controlled via sensors and digital systems, significantly reduces water use by operating as a closed-circuit system. The only water that needs replacing is due to evaporation, and in some cases, rainwater offsets that loss. According to the company, the lagoon uses 33 times less water than a golf course and 40% less than a public park of equal size.
Notably, the lagoon does not support fish or wildlife, as its filtration system keeps the water clear of nutrients necessary for aquatic life.
Community Context
The Sol Club joins The Retreat Lazy River Amenity Village, which opened in 2024 and includes a lazy river, resort-style pool, clubhouse, yoga studio, and arcade. Together, these spaces form the recreational spine of Sunterra.
