Stockdick Junior High Popsicle Bus Is Rolling Into King Crossing for a Back-to-School Celebration

Stockdick Junior High Popsicle Bus Is Rolling Into King Crossing for a Back-to-School Celebration

July 24 2026

The start of a new school year can bring plenty of excitement, along with a few first-day nerves. Stockdick Junior High is helping King Crossing families ease into the transition with a simple invitation: step outside, grab a popsicle and meet some of the people who will welcome students back to campus.

The school’s Pop-Up Popsicle Party will take place Monday, Aug. 3, from 10 to 10:30 a.m. in front of the King Crossing Amenity Center. Stockdick Junior High staff members will arrive aboard a school bus, play music and hand out free popsicles to neighborhood families.

A Welcoming Start to the 2026-2027 School Year

The event is being organized as a friendly, informal way for students and parents to connect with school employees before classes begin.

“As we begin preparation for the upcoming school year, our school is planning a fun, community-centered event on August 3 called a ‘Pop-Up Popsicle Party,’” Stockdick Junior High Coach Kristin Bell said. “The idea is simple: SJH staff members would ride a school bus, park in front of your Kings Crossing's Amenity center, play music, and hand out free popsicles to families in the neighborhood.”

Rather than asking families to travel to the campus, Stockdick Junior High is bringing the back-to-school welcome directly into King Crossing. The school bus will be parked in a visible area near the community center, making it easy for residents to stop by during the 30-minute event.

“This event is designed to create a welcoming, positive start to the school year while strengthening relationships between our school and the community we serve,” Bell said.

What King Crossing Families Need to Know

The Stockdick Junior High Pop-Up Popsicle Party is free and open to neighborhood families. Residents can meet members of the school staff, enjoy music and pick up complimentary popsicles while connecting with other families preparing for the new school year.
