Still Austin Whiskey Co. Unveils The Still Austin Quarter in South Austin, Bringing Live Music, Vinyl Lounge, Cocktails and Dining Under One Roof
For Austinites who appreciate a good whiskey, an evening of live music or simply finding somewhere new to spend time with friends, there's a new reason to visit South Austin. Still Austin Whiskey Co. has officially opened The Still Austin Quarter, an expanded entertainment and hospitality destination at 4211 Willow Springs Road in The Yard at St. Elmo.
The new space brings together a cocktail bar, dedicated live music venue, vinyl listening lounge, full-service kitchen, bottle shop and working whiskey distillery, creating a place where visitors can enjoy dinner, discover a local musician, explore a collection of nearly 5,000 records or learn how Texas whiskey is made.
For Still Austin Whiskey Co., the opening marks a significant milestone following an extensive effort to expand beyond its original tasting room. For the surrounding South Austin community, it adds another locally rooted gathering place in a neighborhood already known for its creative businesses, independent makers and growing food and entertainment scene.
In announcing the completed opening, the Still Austin team shared its excitement on social media: "It’s been a long time coming and an obscene amount of hard work. But, today we are officially fully open to the public! Come on in and check out the new digs, we think you’ll love it."
The company also announced a November 5 grand opening celebration, marking the arrival of a new chapter for the Austin-based whiskey maker.
From Austin Whiskey Distillery to South Austin Entertainment Destination
Still Austin Whiskey Co. has built its identity around producing Texas whiskey while embracing the creative culture that has long distinguished Austin.
Founded by the Kelleher family, Still Austin began producing whiskey in South Austin in 2017, becoming part of a new generation of Texas distilleries focused on locally made spirits and grain-to-glass production.
Its whiskey portfolio includes The Musician Straight Bourbon Whiskey and The Artist Straight Rye Whiskey, along with specialty and limited-release expressions. The company emphasizes Texas-grown grains and the processes of milling, fermenting, distilling and aging whiskey.
Music has also been part of the company's identity for years.
Since 2020, the character known as The Musician has appeared on bottles of Still Austin's flagship bourbon, representing the creativity and craftsmanship behind the brand. With the opening of The Still Austin Quarter, the company has transformed that familiar character into the inspiration for an entire destination.
The result is a space that connects whiskey production with Austin's longstanding reputation as the Live Music Capital of the World.
Rather than simply expanding its tasting room, Still Austin has created several distinct experiences within the same property, allowing guests to choose between a quiet cocktail, a lively performance, a meal with friends or a behind-the-scenes distillery tour.
The Music Room Brings a New Live Music Venue to South Austin
One of the most notable additions to The Still Austin Quarter is The Music Room, an intimate performance venue designed specifically for listening to live music.
The room features acoustics developed by Steven Durr, whose professional credits include work associated with Willie Nelson and Austin City Limits.
That attention to sound is central to the venue's concept. Instead of treating live performances as background entertainment, The Music Room is designed to give musicians and audiences a setting where the music itself takes center stage.
Still Austin plans to feature local and national performers every Friday and Saturday evening, adding another option for residents searching for live music in South Austin.
The November performance calendar includes Curtis Lee & Sugar Trio on November 7, Elijah Ford on November 13, Gran Moreno with Flavor Saver on November 14 and Good Looks on November 20.
Several performances are listed as free, although guests should check individual event details for admission requirements and possible schedule changes.
For local musicians, the new venue represents another opportunity to perform in a city where independent music spaces remain an important part of the cultural landscape. For audiences, it offers a more intimate alternative to larger concert venues and crowded entertainment districts.
The Vinyl Lounge Offers Nearly 5,000 Records and Weekend DJs
Music lovers will also find something different inside The Vinyl Lounge, a listening space built around a collection of nearly 5,000 vinyl records.
The lounge combines the atmosphere of a record-listening room with a cocktail bar and dining area, offering visitors a place to settle in, enjoy a meal and discover music without necessarily attending a formal concert.
Live DJs are scheduled to spin records every Friday and Saturday evening, with sets generally beginning at 7 p.m.
Upcoming DJs include Tropicana Joe on November 7, Dug Fresh on November 13, Hot Moon Vinyl on November 14 and Joshy Soul on November 20.
The Vinyl Lounge also gives The Still Austin Quarter a different kind of nightlife experience, one centered on music appreciation and conversation rather than a traditional nightclub setting.
For Austinites searching for a vinyl listening bar, date night destination or relaxed evening out in South Austin, the lounge offers another option within the growing St. Elmo entertainment district.
The Atrium Introduces a New Cocktail Experience
Visitors looking for a place to enjoy a drink and conversation can head to The Atrium, the property's dedicated cocktail space.
The Atrium is designed as a welcoming setting for guests who want to explore Still Austin's whiskey portfolio or try one of the company's specialty cocktails.
The cocktail menu features familiar drinks with a Still Austin interpretation, including the Still Austin Old Fashioned, made with The Musician Straight Bourbon, demerara and bitters.
Other selections include the Bourbon Peach Tea, combining bourbon with peach and black tea; the Still Austin Boulevardier, featuring bourbon, house aperitif, vermouth and orange; and the Hill Country Sour, made with bourbon, lemon, simple syrup and red wine.
The menu also includes a Pea Flower Cosmo with orange, cranberry and butterfly pea flower, a bourbon-based Espresso Martini, and the Queen Bee, a gin cocktail with honey, lemon and fresh basil.
Guests can enjoy cocktails throughout The Still Austin Quarter, including The Atrium, The Music Room and The Vinyl Lounge.
The Atrium operates on a walk-in basis without reservations.
A Full-Service Kitchen Adds Dining to the Still Austin Experience
The expanded destination also introduces a fully operational kitchen, giving visitors the opportunity to pair their drinks with food without leaving the property.
Still Austin describes its food offerings as a selection of shareable plates and bar bites designed to complement its cocktail and whiskey menus.
Food service is available throughout The Still Austin Quarter, meaning guests can order something to eat while spending time in The Atrium, listening to records in The Vinyl Lounge or enjoying a performance in The Music Room.
The kitchen closes one hour before the property's scheduled closing time.
The addition makes Still Austin more than a stop for whiskey tastings. Visitors can now plan an entire afternoon or evening around the property, from a distillery tour to dinner and live entertainment.
Distillery Tours and Bottle Shop Remain Part of the Experience
Although the new music and hospitality spaces represent a major expansion, whiskey production remains at the center of Still Austin's identity.
Guests interested in learning more about how Texas whiskey is made can continue exploring the working distillery through guided tours.
The standard 60-minute Distillery Tour costs $30 per adult and introduces visitors to the company's grain-to-glass production process, including its 42-foot column still, affectionately named Nancy.
For whiskey enthusiasts seeking a more detailed experience, Still Austin offers a 90-minute Grain to Glass Tour on Saturdays at 1 p.m. for $55 per adult.
Tours are restricted to guests ages 21 and older, require closed-toe shoes and ask participants to arrive 10 minutes early. A 48-hour cancellation policy applies for refunds.
The company's original tasting room has also been repurposed as The Bottle Shop, where visitors can purchase The Musician bourbon, The Artist rye whiskey, limited releases and gifts.
Under Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission regulations, the distillery cannot sell or fulfill bottle orders on Sundays.
Still Austin also offers private event bookings for rehearsal dinners, company gatherings, celebrations and other occasions. Groups can inquire about reserving individual spaces or arranging a full-property event.
Why The Still Austin Quarter Matters for South Austin
The opening comes as the St. Elmo area continues developing its identity as a destination for independent businesses, dining, arts and entertainment.
Located within The Yard at St. Elmo, a mixed-use creative and commercial district in South Austin, Still Austin shares the surrounding area with businesses that contribute to the neighborhood's growing reputation as a place to explore beyond downtown.
For residents of South Austin and nearby communities, the expanded property provides another option for evenings out, weekend activities and entertaining visiting friends or family.
It also reflects a broader part of Austin's cultural identity: the relationship between locally made products, independent music and gathering places where people can spend time together.
The Still Austin Quarter brings those elements into one location while maintaining the working distillery that helped establish the business.
Its new performance space also creates opportunities for musicians to connect with audiences, while the addition of food service and private event facilities expands how the property can be used.
For visitors who already know Still Austin for its bourbon, the changes offer a new way to experience the brand. For those who have never visited, the expanded destination provides several reasons to discover this corner of South Austin.
