Stageworks Theatre Brings Beloved Peanuts Musical You're A Good Man Charlie Brown to Life
From July 19 to August 11, Stageworks Theatre in the Cypress area invites audiences to embark on a nostalgic trip back to childhood with the musical, "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."
Based on the beloved "Peanuts" comic strip by Charles Schulz, this musical was conceived and directed by Clark Gesner, with additional dialogue by Michael Mayer, and additional music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa. The musical introduces audiences to Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, and the entire Peanuts gang as they explore life's great questions, play baseball, struggle with homework, sing heartwarming songs, and celebrate the joy of friendship.
The musical first premiered off-Broadway in 1967 and found immediate success with its simple yet profound take on childhood. A 1999 Broadway revival boosted its popularity even further, winning two Tony Awards for performances by Roger Bart (Snoopy) and Kristin Chenoweth (Sally), both of whom added a fresh dynamic to the ensemble.
With catchy, heart-tugging songs like "My Blanket and Me," "The Baseball Game," "Suppertime," "My New Philosophy," and the universally adored "Happiness," the musical evokes a sense of nostalgia and offers profound insights into the simplicity and resilience of youth. Stageworks Theatre, founded in 2005, is a hub for performing arts and education in Northwest Harris County.
