St. Faustina Catholic Church in Fulshear Prepares for Groundbreaking on New Sanctuary
St. Faustina Catholic Church is poised to begin construction on its long-anticipated new sanctuary, marking a significant milestone in the parish’s history. The new church, set to break ground in early June 2025, will accommodate the rapidly growing Catholic community in Fulshear and Fort Bend County. The project is expected to be completed by late January 2027, at an estimated cost of $32.65 million, according to an official permit filing.
The 35,800-square-foot sanctuary will feature a traditional cruciform design inspired by timeless Catholic architecture. According to parish leaders, this architectural choice reflects a deep commitment to creating a sacred space that evokes reverence, warmth, and a sense of divine presence. With seating capacity projections ranging from 1,700 to 2,000, the new sanctuary will be among the largest in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
“Our mission is to build a place of worship that embodies the beauty, tradition, and transcendence of our Catholic faith,” said Father Dat Hoang, the founding pastor of St. Faustina. “This new church will not only be a beacon of hope and faith in the Fulshear and Katy area but will also allow our growing parish community to gather and celebrate together in a sacred and welcoming space.”

A Growing Parish Rooted in Faith
St. Faustina Catholic Church was established in 2014 to serve the expanding Catholic population west of Houston. Originally holding Masses at Joe Hubenak Elementary School, the parish moved into its current facility at 28102 FM 1093 in 2017. The church is strategically located near Cross Creek Ranch and serves a diverse congregation, including a strong Hispanic community.
Since its founding, St. Faustina has been more than just a place of worship—it has been a thriving center for spiritual growth and community service. The church offers a variety of ministries, including youth and family programs, faith formation classes, and Spanish-language worship services. The recently completed Parish Life Center, which opened in September 2022, has provided additional space for church overflow, youth activities, religious education, and community events.

Community Engagement and Vision
The vision for the new church has been shaped by extensive input from parishioners. Six engagement sessions were held to gather feedback on design preferences, and nearly 1,100 families participated in a parish survey. The responses helped guide the conceptual design and feasibility assessment, ultimately leading to approval from Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, Archbishop of The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, in October 2023 to launch a capital campaign for funding the project.
One of the key considerations in the design process has been balancing present needs with future growth. Parish leaders and architects from Houston-based Jackson & Ryan studied two main options: constructing a 1,700-seat church with the potential for expansion or building a 2,000-seat church from the outset.

Funding and Construction Plans
The project is privately funded through parish contributions and the ongoing capital campaign. The church will also address logistical considerations, such as expanded parking facilities, to accommodate the expected influx of parishioners.
Once the new church is completed, the existing worship facility will transition into a parish life center for retreats, overflow Masses during major liturgical celebrations, and community events, such as the Knights of Columbus Lenten fish fry.
Looking Ahead
St. Faustina Catholic Church has experienced significant growth since its establishment, expanding its facilities to accommodate an increasing congregation. With the construction of its new sanctuary, the church aims to provide a larger space for worship and community activities, addressing the needs of its members in Fulshear and the surrounding areas.
