Southwest ISD Cosmetology Students to Host Princess for a Day Event October 17 at Southwest High School

Preserve at Medina River  /
October 08 2026

For children who dream of wearing a tiara, meeting their favorite princesses and enjoying a little royal treatment, Southwest ISD is bringing that fairy-tale experience to life on Saturday, October 17, 2026. The district's Southwest High School cosmetology program will host Princess for a Day, a special event featuring beauty makeovers, princess photos and family-friendly activities.

Held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Southwest High School Cosmetology Lab, the event gives young participants an opportunity to feel like royalty while showcasing the talents and creativity of local high school cosmetology students.

For families in Southwest San Antonio and surrounding communities, it's a chance to create special childhood memories while supporting students developing hands-on skills through career and technical education.

Princess Makeovers, Royal Photos and More

Presented by Southwest Cosmetology, Princess for a Day promises a morning or afternoon filled with beauty, confidence and a little magic.

Young guests can look forward to several princess-inspired experiences, including princess curls, polished nails, royal makeup and a tiara package to complete their transformations.

The festivities also include opportunities to take photos with princesses, student-built photo booths, a movie and activity room, and a snack bar.

From choosing a hairstyle to posing for a royal portrait, the event is designed to give children a memorable experience while allowing Southwest High School students to put their creativity to work.

Southwest High School Cosmetology Students Put Their Skills to Work

Beyond the princess-themed festivities, the event highlights the hands-on learning opportunities available through Southwest ISD's cosmetology program.

Cosmetology education introduces students to skills associated with hairstyling, nail care, makeup application, customer service and professional beauty services. Events like Princess for a Day provide opportunities for students to practice those skills while interacting with members of their community.

For participating families, that means their children's special day also supports the next generation of local beauty professionals.

The student-built photo booths add another creative element, bringing student involvement into the experience beyond the salon chair.

How to Register for Princess for a Day at Southwest High School

Space is limited, and families interested in attending are encouraged to register early. Registration is available through the event registration webpage.

The event offers Southwest ISD families a fun way to spend part of their Saturday while celebrating the hard work of students learning a trade that could shape their future careers.

For young princesses, the highlight may be the curls, crowns and photos. For the students helping make it happen, the experience offers something equally meaningful: an opportunity to build confidence in their skills and share their talents with the community.
