Seven Lakes High School Boys Soccer Clinches State Championship
Seven Lakes High School etched their name into the history books over the weekend, winning the boys’ soccer 6A State Championship and solidifying their status as a dominant force in Texas high school sports with a second consecutive state title. The thrilling victory showcased the talent, dedication, and teamwork of the Spartans' soccer program, filling their school community with immense pride.
In an electrifying match on Saturday, the Seven Lakes High School boys' soccer team displayed exceptional skill and determination in a highly competitive matchup. Under the guidance of Coach James Krueger, the Spartans unleashed their offensive creativity and defensive resilience, culminating in a heart-stopping victory in extra time over a very formidable opponent. The final score saw Seven Lakes triumphing 2 - 1 over Flower Mound, sparking an outpouring of emotion among players, families and friends, administrators, and staff in attendance as the referee blew the final whistle.
In his post-game interview after winning the State Championship, Coach Krueger expressed his excitement by saying, “To make it to the last day was everything to me. I was emotional stepping onto this field, because it was my last time with this senior class, and just the legacy that they put out there for the next generation was tremendous.” Coach Krueger humbly credited his players for their singular focus, stating, “It’s their accomplishment, and I was along for the ride and guided them the best way I could. They accomplished everything they set out for this season, and it’s just an absolute storybook ending for them. It’s everything they deserve for this program.”
Principal Kerri Finnesand expressed immense pride and excitement for the school community, stating, "Winning the state championship is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our student-athletes, coaches and supporters. This achievement reflects the excellence that defines Seven Lakes High School, and we couldn't be prouder."
