Children’s Lighthouse Opens New Early Learning School in Fulshear’s Cross Creek West Community

A new early learning school has opened in Fulshear’s Cross Creek West community, adding another child care and preschool option for families in one of the fastest-growing areas of Fort Bend County.

Children’s Lighthouse of Cross Creek West opened Aug. 20 at 31631 Fulshear Bend Drive. The school offers programs for infants, toddlers, preschool and Pre-K students, along with before- and after-school care for school-age children.

The opening comes as Fulshear continues to experience rapid population growth, bringing more young families — and greater demand for child care, schools and other family-focused services — to the area.

Experienced Local Franchise Owner Opens Third Fort Bend-Area School

The new location is owned by Emily Fernando, a multi-unit Children’s Lighthouse franchise owner who has been with the company for more than a decade and operates two other schools in Fort Bend County.

“Watching children grow in confidence, discover new interests and reach important milestones is what makes this work so meaningful,” Fernando said. “One of our goals is to instill a love for lifelong learning in every child who walks through our doors. We're grateful for the opportunity to welcome families to Children’s Lighthouse of Cross Creek West and create an environment where every child feels supported, encouraged and inspired every day.”

The Cross Creek West location expands Fernando’s footprint in Fort Bend County at a time when residential development continues to push farther west.

Programs Include Infant Care, Preschool, Pre-K and After-School Care

Children’s Lighthouse of Cross Creek West uses the company’s proprietary Lighthouse Pathways curriculum, which combines age-appropriate academics with social and emotional development.

Infant and toddler programs focus on developmental milestones and caregiver relationships. Preschool and Pre-K programs introduce hands-on learning, early literacy, problem-solving and social collaboration.

The school also offers before- and after-school care for older children, including homework support and enrichment activities.

Children’s Lighthouse says its curriculum incorporates elements of Bloom’s Taxonomy and monthly character themes such as responsibility, respect and citizenship.

“As more families choose to call Fulshear home, access to high-quality early childhood education becomes increasingly important,” said Michael Brown, president of Children’s Lighthouse. “The Lighthouse Pathways® curriculum helps children develop academically, socially and emotionally. With Emily’s leadership experience and commitment to serving families, we’re confident she and her team will ensure children have the support they need to learn, grow and thrive.”

Children’s Lighthouse Has Operated Since 1997

Children’s Lighthouse was established in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1997 and has grown through a franchise model.

The company currently reports more than 70 franchised schools in operation, with another 25 locations in development. Its schools generally serve children from infancy through age 12 through early learning, preschool and school-age programs.

The company also emphasizes parent partnerships and local community involvement across its franchise network.
