REMINDER: Lakes on Eldridge Recycle Day Returns Oct. 3 With Free Document Shredding and Electronics Disposal
For Lakes on Eldridge residents, fall cleaning is getting a little easier. LOE Recycle Day will return on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lakes on Eldridge Clubhouse, giving neighbors a convenient way to securely dispose of sensitive documents and many types of unwanted electronics without leaving the community.
Texas Security Shredding will be on site to shred important documents and collect approved electronic items for disposal. The three-hour event offers residents an opportunity to tackle the stacks of old records, outdated computers, tangled cords and forgotten electronics that have a way of accumulating in home offices, closets and garages.
What Lakes on Eldridge Residents Can Bring
A wide range of electronics will be accepted during LOE Recycle Day, including computers, laptops, notebooks, cell phones, cables and cords, CD-ROM and DVD drives, circuit and motherboards, docking stations, fax machines, hard drives, keyboards, laptop batteries, LCD monitors, mainframes, memory, mice, network hardware, PDAs, power supplies, radios, scanners, shredders, tape drives, telephones, video cameras and wireless devices.
Barcoding equipment is also listed among the acceptable electronic items.
Residents can also bring important documents for secure on-site shredding, providing a practical way to dispose of paperwork that may contain personal, financial or other sensitive information.
For households that have been meaning to clean out an old desk drawer or finally retire electronics that have been sitting unused, the event brings both services together in one neighborhood location.
Some Electronics and Household Items Cannot Be Accepted
Organizers are asking residents to check the restrictions before loading up their vehicles.
Items that will not be accepted include floor copiers, printers and multipurpose machines, fluorescent tubes, CRT monitors, items containing Freon, kitchen and bathroom appliances, light bulbs, microwaves, oils, paints, speakers, stereos, televisions, vacuum cleaners and batteries.
Hazardous waste and other hazardous materials will not be accepted.
Knowing those limits ahead of time can help keep the drop-off process moving and prevent residents from arriving with items the collection team cannot take.
A Convenient Fall Cleanup Close to Home
Community recycling events can be especially useful for electronics that residents may not want to place in regular household trash. For Lakes on Eldridge homeowners, having a scheduled collection at the clubhouse means there is no need to search for a separate electronics recycling location or document shredding event elsewhere in the Houston area.
It is also a good excuse to spend a few minutes before Oct. 3 checking home offices, storage areas and drawers for devices and paperwork that are no longer needed.
LOE Recycle Day will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Lakes on Eldridge Clubhouse. Residents with questions about accepted materials may contact Dan Prusak at dan_prusak@sbcglobal.net.
