REMINDER: Governors Place Holiday Trash Pickup Schedule: What You Need to Know
As the holiday season approaches in Governors Place, residents can expect a few changes to their regular trash and recycling collection schedule. Best Trash, the neighborhood’s waste service provider, has released its 2025 holiday pickup schedule to help ensure a smooth and tidy season for all.
No Pickup on Major Holidays
Best Trash will not be collecting trash or recycling on the following days:
Christmas Day (Thursday, December 25)
- Trash resumes Monday, December 29
- No additional recycling collection this week
New Year’s Day (Thursday, January 1)
- Trash resumes Monday, January 5
- Recycling resumes Thursday, January 8
These temporary changes are in place to allow crews time to observe the holidays while maintaining timely service in the days following.

Recycling Tips for the Holidays
With the extra packaging, boxes, and wrapping paper that come with holiday celebrations, Best Trash reminds residents that overflow recycling can be neatly placed in clear plastic bags or cardboard boxes clearly marked “Recycle.” This helps crews identify recyclable items quickly and reduces confusion during high-volume pickup periods.
Helpful Reminders for a Hassle-Free Pickup
To ensure your waste and recycling are collected without delay, keep these tips in mind:
- Have bins out at the curb by 7:00 AM on your collection day.
- Collection may occur earlier than usual due to lower volume during the holidays—or be slightly delayed if extra holiday waste increases the workload.
- Clearly separate recyclables and secure loose materials to prevent wind-blown litter.
Best Trash extends a warm thank you to all Governors Place residents for their patience and cooperation during the busy season.
