Recycle Your Christmas Tree in Katy: Curbside Pickup During the Holidays
The City of Katy is once again offering a convenient Christmas tree recycling program through the Public Works Department, making it easier for residents to dispose of their holiday trees in an environmentally responsible way. On December 30th and January 7th, residents can place their live Christmas trees out for curbside pickup during regular trash service. Trees must be placed at the curb by 8:00 AM for timely collection. This service is available for live trees only, and all ornaments, lights, and tinsel must be removed before pickup. Please note that flocked and artificial trees cannot be recycled through this program.
Recycling your Christmas tree is an excellent way to reduce waste and give back to the environment. Instead of sending trees to the landfill, they can be repurposed into mulch or compost, which helps enrich soil, conserve water, and reduce the need for chemical fertilizers. By recycling your tree, you're not only clearing your space, but also contributing to a more sustainable and eco-friendly community.
For residents who may miss the curbside pickup or prefer an alternate recycling option, there are several nearby locations where Christmas trees can be dropped off for recycling:
- Comax Outdoor at 4314 Katy Hockley Rd, Katy, TX 77493
- Living Earth at 14110 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079
- New Earth at 6205 FM 2855, Katy, TX 77493
This holiday season, take advantage of the City of Katy’s tree recycling service to make a positive environmental impact while helping keep the community clean and green. For more information, residents can contact the Public Works Department or visit the city’s website.
