Primrose School of Fulshear Announces January 2027 Opening, Bringing 210 Child Care Spots and New Jobs to Growing Community
For Fulshear parents juggling work schedules, school drop-offs and the search for dependable child care, another option is on the way. Primrose School of Fulshear is preparing to open in January 2027, bringing approximately 210 child care spots for children ages six weeks through pre-kindergarten, along with dozens of new jobs for local educators and staff.
The new preschool, located at 330 Huggins Drive near Primrose Park, is already accepting enrollment inquiries and hiring teachers and support staff. For families in Fulshear, Richmond and surrounding Fort Bend County communities, the opening will add another early childhood education option at a time when residential growth continues to bring more young families to the area.
Behind the new school are Kelly and Jason Hammons, longtime Houston-area Primrose Schools franchise owners who have spent nearly a decade operating Primrose School at Waterside Estates. Their decision to expand into Fulshear grew partly from conversations with parents who wanted access to the same early learning experience closer to where they live.
A Familiar Name in Early Education Finds a New Home in Fulshear
For Kelly Hammons, opening a second Primrose location is both a business expansion and an opportunity to serve families in a community that has changed considerably in recent years.
As a mother of two and an experienced preschool owner, Hammons understands that choosing child care involves more than finding an available classroom. Parents want to know their children will be cared for, feel comfortable with their teachers and have opportunities to learn and make friends.
“As a mother of two and a Primrose Franchise Owner for nearly a decade, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is for children to have a nurturing environment where they feel safe, build confidence and develop a love of learning,” said Kelly Hammons, Franchise Owner of Primrose School of Fulshear. “As more families have moved to Fulshear, we began hearing from parents who wished they had that same experience closer to home. We’re excited to help meet that need, build meaningful relationships with local families and grow alongside the Fulshear community.”
The Hammons family already has roots in the greater Fort Bend County area through Primrose School at Waterside Estates. The new Fulshear campus will allow them to extend their work with families into another growing part of the county.
What Families Can Expect at Primrose School of Fulshear
The new Primrose School of Fulshear will feature approximately 14,000 square feet of classroom and learning space, with facilities designed to accommodate children at different stages of early development.
The campus will include 12 classrooms, four outdoor playgrounds and a sports court. Together, these spaces are intended to provide opportunities for both structured learning and the kind of physical activity, exploration and social interaction that are important during early childhood.
The school will serve infants beginning at six weeks old, toddlers, preschoolers and children preparing to enter kindergarten.
For parents comparing daycare and preschool options in Fulshear, the age range means families with children at different developmental stages may be able to use the same school.
Primrose School of Fulshear will follow the company's proprietary Balanced Learning® approach, which combines purposeful play with teacher-guided instruction. According to Primrose Schools, the curriculum is designed to support academic development, social-emotional learning and character development while encouraging curiosity, creativity, confidence and compassion.
The school also plans to incorporate the Balanced Learning® App, which combines hands-on activities with age-appropriate technology experiences intended to support problem-solving, creativity and healthy technology habits.
Primrose Schools, founded in 1982, has grown into a national early education and child care organization with more than 560 independently owned and operated schools across 36 states and Washington, D.C., according to the company.
Each location is operated by franchise owners, allowing individual schools to establish relationships with the families and communities they serve while using the Primrose educational model.
Why Another Preschool Matters for Fulshear and Fort Bend County Families
The upcoming opening comes as Fulshear and surrounding communities continue adapting to years of residential development and population growth.
New neighborhoods bring more than houses. They also bring young children who need child care, parents balancing employment and family responsibilities, and an increasing need for educational services close to home.
For households with infants and preschool-age children, finding available child care can be one of the more challenging parts of settling into a new community. Location, operating hours, tuition, teaching philosophy and classroom availability can all influence a family's decision.
The importance of early education is also reflected in regional data.
According to Understanding Houston, an initiative of the Greater Houston Community Foundation, Fort Bend County's kindergarten readiness rate increased from 29% during the 2017-2018 school year to 55% during the 2023-2024 school year.
The figures reflect improvement in the share of children meeting kindergarten readiness benchmarks, although they do not establish that any particular preschool program caused those gains.
For parents, kindergarten readiness can involve everything from recognizing letters and numbers to learning how to follow classroom routines, communicate needs, develop friendships and manage emotions.
The addition of approximately 210 child care spots at Primrose School of Fulshear will expand the area's private early education capacity. Actual availability will depend on enrollment, age-group capacity and staffing.
The school is one of several types of early learning options available to Fort Bend County families, alongside other private child care centers, home-based providers and public pre-kindergarten programs for eligible children.
From a $3.5 Million Construction Project to a Planned January Opening
The school's anticipated January 2027 opening also marks another step in a development project previously covered by My Neighborhood News.
In August 2025, My Neighborhood News reported on plans for a new Primrose Schools facility associated with an approximately $3.5 million construction project in the Fulshear area.
The earlier construction filing identified a location at 8015 FM 359 Road S, with construction expected to begin in early 2026 and finish around August of that year. Plans called for a single-story, approximately 14,000-square-foot preschool.
The latest announcement identifies the school's address as 330 Huggins Drive, near Primrose Park, and establishes January 2027 as the anticipated opening date.
The similarity in the reported building size and development timeline provides continuity with the previously announced project, although the relationship between the two reported addresses has not been independently confirmed.
With enrollment inquiries and recruitment underway, attention is now turning toward preparing classrooms, assembling the school team and welcoming its first families.
Primrose School of Fulshear Hiring Teachers and Staff, Creating Up to 35 Jobs
In addition to expanding local child care options, the new school is expected to create approximately 30 to 35 jobs in Fulshear.
Available opportunities are expected to include early childhood educators, school leadership positions and support staff.
The hiring process gives local teachers and individuals interested in early childhood education an opportunity to join the school's founding team before the first students arrive.
For residents searching for preschool teacher jobs, daycare careers or early childhood education employment in Fulshear and Fort Bend County, the opening represents another potential workplace close to home.
The school has not provided a detailed breakdown of positions, salaries or benefits in its announcement. Interested applicants can contact Primrose School of Fulshear for current employment information and qualifications.
Community Involvement Will Extend Beyond the Classroom
The Hammons family also plans to bring an established tradition of community involvement to its new Fulshear location.
At Primrose School at Waterside Estates, Kelly Hammons has supported charitable initiatives, annual donations and community events, including partnerships with organizations serving children and families.
Those relationships have included Lunches of Love, which helps address childhood food insecurity, as well as Isaiah House and Fulshear Little League.
The new Primrose School of Fulshear intends to build on those efforts through local partnerships and activities that connect the school with the surrounding community.
For a preschool, those connections can provide opportunities for children and families to learn about helping others while becoming more involved in the place they call home.
They can also help introduce newer Fulshear residents to local organizations, youth activities and volunteer opportunities.
Specific future events and charitable partnerships for the new campus have not yet been announced.
What's Next for Primrose School of Fulshear?
Over the coming months, Kelly and Jason Hammons and their team will continue preparing the new campus for its anticipated January 2027 opening.
The school is expected to welcome children from Fulshear and surrounding Fort Bend County communities, giving families another choice as they consider child care arrangements and early education opportunities.
For longtime residents, the addition reflects how much Fulshear has grown. For newer families, it is another sign of the services and businesses arriving to support the community's changing needs.
And for parents who have been hoping to find a preschool closer to home, the most important details may be much simpler: whether a classroom is available, whether the school is a good fit for their child and whether it makes the family's daily routine a little easier.
