Precinct4Forward Opens Applications for November Student Leadership Forum
For students drawn to public service, figuring out where to begin can be as important as choosing what to study. A November leadership forum will give a small group of high school and college students an opportunity to meet people working in government and hear from others who have already taken an early step into that world.
Applications for the Precinct4Forward Leadership Forum Experience are open through October 30. Twenty-five students will be selected for the November 18, 2026 program at Amegy Tower, running from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A Closer Look at Public Service
Organized by Precinct4Forward and Harris County Precinct 4, the forum connects students with elected officials, business government-affairs professionals and alumni of the Texas Legislative Internship Program.
The four-hour experience includes an hour of leadership training and an alumni panel moderated by Commissioner Lesley Briones. For students considering work in public policy or government, the mix brings together perspectives from people shaping public decisions and former interns who have begun exploring that work themselves.
The forum is a chance to learn about those paths and make professional connections. Participation in the event is separate from an internship placement.
Leave Time for the Application
The online application asks for a resume, school information and GPA, along with written responses about the applicant’s interests, public-service experience and a policy or social issue that matters to them.
Those questions give applicants room to explain what draws them to service. Before sitting down to complete the form, students can gather their school details, review their resume and think about an issue they would like to understand or help address.
Selected students must attend the full program and arrange their own transportation. Because the forum takes place on a Wednesday morning, applicants should check their school and travel arrangements before committing. Questions may be directed to info@precinct4forward.org.
