New Chapter Begins: Hearthstone’s Little Free Library Gets a Heartfelt Makeover at Bob Allen Park

November 19 2025

The Hearthstone community has something new—and heartwarming—to celebrate. Thanks to the support of the Hearthstone HOA and the kindness of a local neighbor, the Little Free Library and children's library at the east end of Bob Allen Park just got a major upgrade, and residents are invited to stop by and enjoy the improved setup.

Located near the entrance of the park on Huffmeister Road, this neighborhood gem now boasts two brand-new book boxes—one for adults and one just for kids. A special thanks goes out to the Hearthstone HOA for funding the new boxes, and to Hearthstone resident Juan Ariza of One Legacy Roofing, who generously donated his time and expertise to install them. He refused to accept any payment for the work, making the gesture all the more meaningful. As a proud member of the community, Ariza exemplifies the neighborly spirit that makes Hearthstone such a special place to call home.

The new additions were made possible in part by Paula McHam and the members of Chapter Chicas, the Hearthstone neighborhood book club that originally got the Little Free Library rolling. "It really is a wonderful tribute for the neighborhood,” said resident Tricia Gordon. “Thank you to all who contributed, especially Paula, for all her work and Garden Club (Karen) for making it even more special.”

This community project is more than just a refresh—it’s a way of bringing Hearthstone families and neighbors together through the love of reading and sharing. The Little Free Library encourages residents to take a book, leave a book, and pass along stories that others may enjoy. With selections for all ages, a welcoming bench, and even a basket of tennis balls for four-legged visitors, it’s a cozy, welcoming corner for all who visit Bob Allen Park.

So next time you're out enjoying the trails or playground at Bob Allen Park, be sure to stop by the updated Little Free Library on the east side. Whether you're searching for your next favorite read or simply want to see the newest addition to the neighborhood, this charming setup is a must-see—and a true reflection of Hearthstone’s community pride.
