Families in the Memorial Parkway neighborhood and surrounding communities can dive into an exciting summer as Memorial Parkway Swim Team (MPST) registration opens this month. The MPST Marlins offer a recreational yet competitive summer swim team experience for children aged 4 to 18, helping them build confidence, develop swimming skills, and create lifelong friendships.
A Legacy of Swimming, Sportsmanship, and Teamwork
The Memorial Parkway Swim Team has been a proud part of the community for over 45 years, providing a welcoming environment for swimmers of all levels. As a member of the West Houston Aquatic League (WHALe), the MPST Marlins emphasize individual improvement, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The team has earned several accolades, including the 2022 Division 5 Championship and the Sportsmanship Award in 2023, 2018, 2016, 2015, and 2011.
Why Join the MPST Marlins?
The MPST summer swim season runs from May through June, offering structured practices and competitive meets. Swimmers receive coaching in all four strokes—freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly—while also gaining valuable life skills such as self-discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The team also encourages teen volunteerism, providing leadership opportunities for older swimmers who mentor younger teammates.

What to Expect During the Season

Swim Practices & Meets: Held at the Memorial Parkway Highland Knolls Pool (21519 Highland Knolls).

Practice Schedule: Starts in May and runs through June.

Competitive Swim Meets: Take place from late May through June, with championship meets (Meet of Champs and All Stars) for qualifying swimmers.

Fun & Family Events: The team hosts social gatherings, fundraising activities, and a season-ending swim party and awards night.
Practice Policies & Guidelines
MPST emphasizes a safe and supportive environment for all swimmers. Parents are required to supervise younger swimmers, and for safety reasons, only swimmers aged 11 and up may be dropped off at practice without a guardian. Additionally:

Parents and non-swimmers are not allowed on the pool deck during practice.

The baby pool is closed during swim practices and meets.

MPST is not responsible for children playing on the playground.

Swimmers must be picked up on time after practices.
