Meet Dr. Lea Mishlan: Foster High School’s New Assistant Principal
The Foster High School community is excited to welcome Dr. Lea Mishlan as the new Assistant Principal. With two decades of experience in public education, Dr. Mishlan brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for student success to her new role.
Dr. Mishlan’s impressive career began in Pearland ISD, where she served in various roles including classroom teacher, school counselor, and assistant principal. Her dedication and leadership were recognized with accolades such as Assistant Principal of the Year (2020) and the Educators in Excellence Award (2021). Most recently, she was the Principal of West Briar Middle School prior to serving as the Dean of Instruction at Westside High School in Houston ISD.
Dr. Mishlan is a proud alumna of the University of South Florida, where she completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Elementary Education and Counselor Education. She also holds a doctorate in Ethical Leadership from the University of St. Thomas. In addition to her academic achievements, Dr. Mishlan has an interesting background in athletics — she played professional softball with the Tampa Bay Firestix.

Outside of work, Dr. Mishlan enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her two children aged 13 and 15, and her boxer dog. She is passionate about mountain biking, exercising, and relaxing with a good puzzle.
As she steps into her new role at Foster High School, Dr. Mishlan is eager to contribute to the school’s vibrant community and support its students and staff in achieving excellence. Her diverse experiences and enthusiasm for education make her a valuable addition to the Foster and LCISD teams.
