Mayde Creek Theatre Presents the Timeless Myth 'Eurydice'
Mayde Creek Theatre invites audiences to experience a poignant reimagining of the classic Greek myth with its production of Eurydice by acclaimed playwright Sarah Ruhl. Performances are scheduled for Thursday, January 16; Friday, January 17; and Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre at Mayde Creek High School, located at 19202 Groschke Road in Houston.
Ruhl’s Eurydice retells the ancient tale of Orpheus and Eurydice through the perspective of its heroine. After dying tragically on her wedding day, Eurydice embarks on a journey to the underworld, where she reconnects with her father and grapples with memories of her lost love. With its innovative characters, imaginative storytelling, and striking visual elements, Eurydice offers a modern and emotionally resonant take on this timeless love story.
The original production of Eurydice premiered off-Broadway in 2007 at Second Stage Theatre, directed by Les Waters and featuring a stellar cast. Since then, the play has captivated audiences worldwide with its blend of mythic themes and contemporary sensibilities.
