Mayde Creek Elementary Welcomes New Principal Miranda Cummings
Westlake Forest residents will be pleased to hear that Mayde Creek Elementary is welcoming a new principal, Miranda Cummings, who is eager to take on the role and lead the school into its next chapter. With over 20 years of educational experience, including roles as a classroom teacher, instructional specialist, and campus administrator, Cummings brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep commitment to fostering student success.
“I am honored to be named the new principal of Mayde Creek Elementary,” Cummings said. “I look forward to working closely with the dedicated teachers and staff to build a positive, supportive environment where all of our students can grow and thrive.”

Currently serving as an assistant principal at McElwain Elementary, Cummings will officially take on her new role at Mayde Creek on January 27, 2025. Her educational background includes a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston. Katy ISD Superintendent Dr. Ken Gregorski expressed confidence in her leadership, saying, “With her extensive experience and strong commitment to student achievement, Ms. Cummings is well-equipped to continue fostering a culture of success at Mayde Creek Elementary.”
The school community will also be saying goodbye to current principal, Felicia Ashabranner, who has been appointed as the principal of Alfred and Ann Boudny Elementary in Elyson, a new campus currently under construction. As Cummings prepares to take the helm, both staff and families look forward to the future of Mayde Creek Elementary under her leadership.
