Lynda Dierker Announces Retirement as Executive Director of Cy-Hope After Years of Dedicated Service

November 04 2024

Lynda Dierker, the longstanding Executive Director of Cy-Hope, has announced her retirement from the organization, effective January 6, 2025. Her announcement, made on November 4, 2024, marks the conclusion of a significant period for Cy-Hope, an organization that has grown immensely under Dierker's guidance.

Cy-Hope, a community-focused organization birthed in 2011 by a dedicated group of individuals, has been a pillar of support for Cy-Fair ISD, the third largest in Texas and the largest non-urban school district in the country. With a clear vision to rally the entire community towards making life better for kids, Cy-Hope works to provide opportunities for the underserved children in their district to succeed in life. They support and encourage students, teachers, and administrators, with the aim to help every school achieve an “A” rating.

Dierker, who has been with Cy-Hope since its inception, reflected on her journey with the organization. She said, "This decision has been a long time coming, influenced by my desire to spend more quality time with my husband and enjoy the adventures life still has in store for us". A treasure trove of experience and wisdom, Dierker shared a piece of advice that she carried with her throughout her career; "always surround yourself with great people, and together you can do great things."

The organization predominantly serves a diverse demographic, with 45% Latino, 24% Caucasian, and 18% African American students. Half of the over 117,000 students in CFISD are economically disadvantaged by federal standards. Cy-Hope strives to fill in the gaps for these students through a variety of programs, showing its commitment to compassion, collaboration, and community. In an effort to positive affect more children in need of support, Cy-Hope also serves children and their families in the Waller area, opening a new location this past May.

Theresa Fauser, a co-founder of Cy-Hope, a former board chair, and a dedicated member of the board of directors, will take over the role of Executive Director. Dierker stated, "Her deep commitment to our mission, passion for the underserved and extensive experience make her an exceptional choice to lead us into the future."

Dierker confirmed that she will support the transition process, continuing her involvement with key initiatives. She expressed her confidence in the team saying, "Their unique gifts and collaborative spirit will continue to propel Cy-Hope forward, and I will always be an ambassador for our mission to make life better for kids."

Wrapping up her announcement, Dierker thanked everyone for their support over the years. She said, "I am filled with gratitude as I look back on my time here and excited to see what the future holds for Cy-Hope."
