Lamar CISD to Celebrate Groundbreaking of Innovative Career & Technical Education Center
Lamar Consolidated ISD, in collaboration with Stantec, a global sustainable design and engineering pioneer, will host the groundbreaking ceremony for the district's inaugural Career & Technical Education (CTE) Center on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 9:00 AM.
This cornerstone event is to be held at the future home of the center, located at 1435 Hartledge Road (Spur 10) in Rosenberg. The event highlights a significant progression for Lamar CISD as it prepares to break ground on a cutting-edge, 236,211-square-foot centralized Career & Technical Education Center. This advanced facility will serve students from all seven district high schools, including the forthcoming Tomas High School, set to open in August 2025.
The CTE Center will feature a robust array of programs and pathways, covering an extensive range of professions. These include Automotive Technology, Digital Communications, Carpentry, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Dental, Paint & Body, HVAC & Sheet Metal, Robotics, Drones, Electrical, Graphic design, Patient Care, Distribution & Logistics, Plumbing & Pipefitting, and Pharmacy.
The groundbreaking ceremony will feature notable speakers including Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Roosevelt Nivens, Lamar CISD CTE Executive Director Dr. Kayse Lazar, and Lamar CISD Board President Zach Lambert.

Dr. Nivens sees the groundbreaking as indicative of more than just a new construction project. He stated, "This groundbreaking symbolizes Lamar CISD’s dedication to equipping our students with the skills and practical experience they need to thrive in the future workforce. By putting forth advanced programs in areas like robotics, healthcare, and skilled trades, we're setting the stage for our students to be ready for high-demand careers and to compete on an international level."
This project has been enabled by the 2022 Bond, particularly Proposition B, which provided the financial resources for the new Career and Technology Center. Lamar CISD, the fastest growing district in Texas, received significant voter support resulting in the successful passing of the largest bond referendum in the district's history on November 8, 2022. This bond, amounting to $1,516,623,300, ensures the construction of this first-time CTE Center and will also address safety and security, building, and technology needs.
All students, parents, community members and district leaders are invited to the groundbreaking ceremony slated for October 23, 2024 at 9:00 AM at 1435 Hartledge Road (Spur 10) in Rosenberg.
