Lamar CISD Gathers Community Input for 2025-2030 Strategic Plan through Focus Groups and Town Halls
Lamar Consolidated Independent School District (Lamar CISD) recently held a series of town hall meetings and focus groups to engage parents, students, and community members in the development of the district's 2025-2030 strategic plan. These sessions, facilitated in collaboration with JG Consulting, aimed to gather valuable input and ideas that will help shape the district's vision for the next five years.
As Lamar CISD continues to be one of Texas' fastest-growing school districts, it is crucial to ensure that its strategic plans align with the needs of the community and the evolving demands of education. The series of town halls were held at three key secondary campuses: Lamar Consolidated High School, Fulshear High School, and George Ranch High School. Each location represented a different track within the district, with Lamar Consolidated High School representing the blue and red tracks, Fulshear High School representing the purple and gold tracks, and George Ranch High School representing the maroon and silver tracks.
In addition to the town halls, focus group meetings were conducted at the Brazos Crossing administration building to gather more in-depth feedback on the district's challenges, goals, and future aspirations. These sessions were designed to provide participants with a platform to discuss the future of Lamar CISD, especially as the district anticipates continued growth over the next decade.

"We appreciate the valuable input from our community, and we’re grateful to everyone who took the time to attend the town halls and focus groups and make their voices heard," said Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Roosevelt Nivens. "Our district’s success is rooted in the collaboration between our schools and the community, and these meetings are a key part of shaping the future of Lamar CISD."
As part of the planning process, Lamar CISD is working to refine and build upon its previous strategic plan, which was developed during the 2018-2019 school year. The 2025-2030 strategic plan will focus on five key priorities:
-
Evolve the Student Learning Experience – Providing students with the tools, technology, and resources needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
-
Equip Students with Knowledge and Skills to Succeed – Ensuring that graduates possess critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills necessary for personal and professional success.
-
Promote a Safe and Healthy Environment – Maintaining safe and up-to-date facilities while increasing access to high-quality mental health support.
-
Plan for Rapid Growth While Preserving District Culture – Maintaining the district's "small-town feel" by keeping neighborhood schools and ensuring proper alignment within the feeder patterns.
-
Focus on Talent – Attracting and retaining top talent through competitive salaries, benefits, and professional development opportunities for staff.
For those unable to attend the town halls, Lamar CISD also offered an online community survey to ensure everyone had an opportunity to contribute to the strategic planning process.

"The strategic planning process is incredibly important, and we want to hear from as many of our stakeholders as possible," Dr. Nivens said. "For anyone who couldn’t attend the recent meetings in person, our online survey was another great way to participate. This process is crucial to guiding and directing the work of Lamar CISD over the upcoming years, and we can’t do it without community participation."
The feedback gathered from these meetings will be used to inform the next steps in creating a comprehensive and actionable plan for Lamar CISD’s future.
