Klein Oak Senior Rajarshi Ghosh Named 2026 Valedictorian After Record of Academic Excellence, Research and Service

May 12 2026

Klein Oak High School’s Class of 2026 will graduate with a valedictorian whose accomplishments extend far beyond the classroom, reflecting both the growing academic opportunities within Klein ISD and the increasingly competitive landscape facing today’s top students.

Rajarshi “Raj” Ghosh, recently named the 2026 Klein Oak High School valedictorian, built a high school career defined by advanced research, national academic recognition, leadership and community service. His journey also highlights the role local public schools continue to play in preparing students for highly specialized fields like artificial intelligence, computer science and advanced mathematics.

For families across Klein, Tomball and northwest Harris County, Raj’s story serves as an example of how students are leveraging opportunities inside Klein ISD to compete on a national and even global stage.

Klein Oak Valedictorian Earns Recognition in AI Research and National Competitions

During his time at Klein Oak High School, Raj combined rigorous coursework with extensive extracurricular involvement, balancing research, leadership, music and volunteer work.

Among his most notable accomplishments, Raj published two artificial intelligence research papers that collectively earned 22 citations and collaborated with AI researchers at Harvard Medical School. He also completed a software engineering internship with Hewlett Packard Enterprise, gaining hands-on industry experience while still in high school.

Raj earned national recognition through multiple mathematics and computer science competitions, including a Top 10 finish at the Jane Street AIME Estimathon National Finals. He was also named a National Merit Finalist and qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME), one of the country’s most challenging mathematics competitions for high school students.

Within UIL academics, Raj qualified for state competition in both Number Sense and Calculator Applications, adding to a long list of academic honors.

His achievements extended into the arts as well. Raj was selected as a two-time Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State Violinist, demonstrating the same level of discipline and excellence in music that defined his academic career.

Teachers Say Raj’s Character Matches His Academic Talent

While Raj’s résumé reflects exceptional achievement, educators at Klein Oak say his character and compassion have made an equally strong impression on campus.

“Raj’s brilliance and raw intelligence are almost otherworldly, yet it is his kind heart and compassion that truly define him,” said honored teacher Ms. Evelyn Dino-Slaugher. “He is a profound thinker, an innovative analyst, and someone consistently driven to achieve meaningful and substantive results. His sophisticated understanding of the world, the strength and integrity of his character, and his steadfast commitment to seeking truth are truly admirable.”

She added that watching Raj grow as a student was both meaningful and inspiring.

“I am incredibly excited about his future and the contributions he will make to humanity,” Dino-Slaugher said. “It was an absolute pleasure to have him in class, and I feel deeply honored to have been his teacher.”

For many Klein ISD educators, students like Raj represent the broader impact of investing in advanced academics, fine arts and career-focused programs that allow students to explore ambitious goals while remaining connected to their local community.

Leadership and Service Played Central Role at Klein Oak

Raj’s influence at Klein Oak extended beyond academics and competition.

He served as President of Mu Alpha Theta, the school’s Math Honor Society, and led the Zeta Omicron Computer Science Honor Society and Computer Science Club. In those leadership roles, he helped foster collaboration among students pursuing advanced STEM studies and competitive academic pathways.

He also volunteered as a junior volunteer at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands throughout his junior and senior years, dedicating time to serving patients and healthcare staff while balancing a demanding academic schedule.

That combination of achievement and service is something Klein ISD leaders often emphasize as part of the district’s effort to prepare students not only for college and careers, but also for leadership within their communities.

Raj Credits Klein ISD Educators for Encouraging Growth

As he reflected on his time in Klein ISD, Raj pointed to the support system around him as a major factor in his success.

“What was most special about Klein ISD was the support I received when going above and beyond,” Raj said. “Not only did Klein ISD have the infrastructure to challenge me and help me grow, but the educators consistently encouraged me to pursue difficult opportunities and guided me whenever I stepped into uncharted territory.”

He said the encouragement he received from teachers helped shape his mindset both inside and outside the classroom.

“They never allowed me to settle for less than my best, and that standard has profoundly shaped how I approach my life,” Raj said.

What Happens Next for the Klein Oak Valedictorian

Following graduation, Raj will attend Harvard College, where he plans to study Computer Science and Mathematics.

As Klein Oak High School prepares to celebrate the Class of 2026, Raj’s accomplishments stand as a reflection of both personal dedication and the opportunities available to students throughout Klein ISD.

For local families, his story also underscores how public schools in the Klein community continue producing graduates prepared to contribute in rapidly evolving fields like artificial intelligence, engineering and advanced technology.

Klein ISD congratulated Raj on his achievements and expressed excitement about the impact he is expected to make in the future.
