Klein Kloset Collecting Donations to Support Klein ISD Students and Families

December 18 2025

The Klein Kloset, a vital community initiative operated by Klein ISD, is now welcoming donations and volunteers from local neighborhoods—including Inverness Estates—to help meet the basic needs of students and families across the district.

Established to serve students experiencing homelessness, financial hardship, or family crises, the Klein Kloset provides free clothing, hygiene products, and household essentials to students from every school in Klein ISD. Located in a centralized facility, the Klein Kloset ensures that no child faces unnecessary obstacles to learning and well-being.

“The Klein Kloset is a beautiful example of how our community comes together to support the whole student, meeting basic needs so that every child can thrive academically and emotionally,” said Christy Spisak, Director of the Klein ISD Education Foundation.

The project is made possible by a $14,856 Multi-Campus Grant from the Klein ISD Education Foundation, with additional support from Brian and Dr. Jenny McGown and numerous community donors. District social workers manage referrals and daily operations in coordination with Klein ISD’s Operations and Warehouse Services teams, who helped launch the space with repurposed storage and equipment.

A unique aspect of the Klein Kloset is its collaboration with the Klein ISD Bridge Center, where students working on daily living skills assist by washing, folding, and preparing donated items. This initiative not only supports peers in need but also gives Bridge Center students valuable hands-on experience that fosters independence and confidence.

For residents of Inverness Estates and nearby communities in Klein, Spring, and Tomball, supporting the Klein Kloset is an opportunity to make a direct, local impact—especially during the winter season, when the need for warm clothing and household items is even more pronounced.

Volunteer Opportunities for Adults

For those interested in giving their time, the Klein Kloset also welcomes adult volunteers to help sort, fold, label, and organize donations during school hours. Volunteers must complete the Klein ISD Volunteer Application through the district’s Community Relations Department and select “Klein Kloset” as their preferred volunteer site.

Once approved, volunteers will be contacted by Christy or Kim to coordinate their shifts and help schedule visits.

This heartwarming project not only helps Klein students feel confident and prepared for school—it also builds empathy, responsibility, and real-world life skills for student volunteers and fosters a culture of kindness across the community.

Inverness Estates neighbors who want to support Klein ISD families this season—and all year round—are encouraged to share this article on their neighborhood’s Facebook group or NextDoor page to help spread the word and expand the circle of care.
