Klein ISD Hosts 25th Annual Veterans Day Celebration Honoring Local Heroes

November 11 2025

In a tradition 25 years strong, Klein Independent School District once again opened its doors—and hearts—to honor veterans and active-duty military at its annual Veterans Day Celebration, held at the Klein Multipurpose Center.

The event, which has become a cherished part of the Klein community, brought together local veterans, current service members, students, educators, and families for a morning of remembrance, celebration, and profound gratitude. Attendees were welcomed with a warm breakfast followed by a moving ceremony filled with patriotic pride and emotional tributes.

“Today, we are all here together to honor the heroes gathered in our midst, that is, every man and woman who has ever worn the uniform of our nation’s military—those who’ve courageously protected our freedom and fought for justice throughout our history,” said Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown during her opening remarks. “Today and every day, thank you for your unwavering service in times of peace and in times of war, at home and abroad. Thank you for being our heroes.”

Klein ISD’s Veterans Day Celebration has become one of the most anticipated annual community events in Northwest Houston, drawing support and attendance from all corners of the district. The 2025 program featured powerful performances from the Klein Collins Band, Klein Collins Chorale, and the Hildebrandt Intermediate Choir. Their renditions of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “God Bless America,” and the “Armed Forces Medley” stirred emotions and brought the crowd to its feet in appreciation and unity.

Air Force Cadet Captain Angie Pantoja from the Klein Collins JROTC program served as the event emcee, adding heartfelt student perspective to the day. “Veterans Day is a day to remember not only those who pushed above and beyond to strive to protect our country,” said Pantoja. “It’s a day to show how great a community we can be, all together.”

The presence of cadets from the Klein Collins, Klein Cain, and Klein High JROTC programs added to the spirit of honor and respect, reinforcing the district’s commitment to instilling values of service, leadership, and patriotism in its students.

Adding depth and personal reflection to the program, Marine Corps veteran and Klein ISD Director of Transportation John Fergerson shared a poignant memory from his time in combat. “After 20 years in the Marine Corps and three combat tours, I’ve learned that service and leadership don’t stop when you return home; they just take on new forms,” Fergerson shared. “Veterans Day reminds me to stay grounded in those same values of teamwork, commitment, and looking out for others, whether it’s in our schools, our community, or right here at home.”

The 25th Annual Klein ISD Veterans Day Celebration served as more than just a ceremony—it was a living example of how a school district and its surrounding community can come together to truly honor those who have served. With each performance, salute, and word of thanks, Klein made it clear that its veterans are deeply valued and never forgotten.
