Klein ISD Celebrates Record-Breaking Year for Advanced Placement® Exam Success
A new academic milestone has been reached in Klein ISD, where students are setting the bar higher than ever in Advanced Placement (AP®) coursework. District results from the 2024–25 school year show both a sharp increase in AP® exam participation and record numbers of students scoring a 3 or higher—marking college-level mastery and potential college credit.
According to the latest data, 72% of students enrolled in an AP® course took the associated exam, and of those, 69% earned a score of 3 or above. These achievements reflect not only student commitment but the district’s ongoing efforts to expand access to rigorous learning opportunities that prepare students for college and beyond.
“We are incredibly proud of our students for embracing challenging coursework and thriving in their AP® classes,” said Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown. “These record-breaking results are a testament not only to their hard work but also to the dedication of our talented teachers who prepare them for success beyond high school.”
What Is the AP® Program?
Administered by the College Board, the Advanced Placement® program allows high school students to take college-level courses in a wide variety of subjects—ranging from U.S. History to Physics to Studio Art. Each course culminates in a standardized exam scored on a scale of 1 to 5. A score of 3 or higher is often considered passing and may earn students college credit or advanced placement at many universities.
Klein ISD has long been a strong supporter of the AP® program, offering dozens of courses designed to both challenge and empower students across its high schools.
