Kick Off Spring Break with Live Music Close to Home

The My Neighborhood News Live Music Fix series is brought to you in part by Joyce Skala of Cypress Music Scene (CMS), and spotlights local bands and venues in Cypress. CMS is a dynamic Facebook page that brings local musicians together to share information about their upcoming gigs, collaborate and support one another. In addition to being a vital connector in the vibrant music scene in Cypress, Joyce is also the lead singer of HURRY SUNDOWN in Cypress.


With spring break next week and mild temperatures forecasted for the weekend in the Cypress area, it's the perfect time to get out of the house and enjoy some quality live music close to home. Check out this weekend's lineup and make plans to get plugged in!

Mark Chesnutt is a distinguished icon in the Country music scene, revered by critics and peers alike for his classic Country style and 14 No. 1 hits. With an impressive four platinum albums and five gold records, Chesnutt’s powerful performances and distinctive voice continue to shape the genre and inspire up-and-coming artists.
 
Andy's Bar and Grill @ 8:00 PM | Karaoke with Donovan T. 
Donovan Ti is a musician by trade who writes and plays guitar and piano. He hosts karaoke at many local venues, receiving rave reviews from fans that applaud his engagement with audiences at his live shows.
 
BFE Rock Club @ 7:00 PM | Godfather Fest
Frank Aluotto, Houston's Godfather of Rock N' Roll, is battling Myelodysplastic Syndrome and needs support from the community. Godfather Fest, a fundraising event featuring over two dozen local bands, is planned for the weekend to help raise funds for his medical expenses.
 
Brew:30 Taphouse @ 6:30 PM | Righteous Cause
Formed in 2011 to raise awareness for local and national charities, Righteous Cause plays rock, classic rock from the 60s, 70s and 80s, and some country.
 
Creekwood Grill @ 6:30 PM | Jeff Canada
The Woodlands native singer/songwriter Jeff Canada is known for his high-energy, down-to-earth live performances, interactive audience engagement, and a diverse repertoire influenced by the likes of Pearl Jam, Better Than Ezra, Matchbox 20, Zac Brown Band, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, and Dave Matthews.
 
Cypress Trail Hideout @ 6:00 | Nigel Edison
The Nigel Edison Band, originating in 2002 in Spring, has performed extensively in Texas and Louisiana with a unique blend of C&W and blues-infused hard rock. Nigel, a distinctive "Indian" country and western writer/performer, aims for his music to resonate deeply with listeners, creating an immersive live experience.

Under the Son is a Houston-based band known for their classic rock sound, with emotional vocal hooks adding an extra edge to their retro vibe. As a verified original Spotify artist with a strong social media following, they have released two full-length albums and their song "Blue Sun Rise" has earned radio airplay in 21 countries and 22 U.S. states.

Hailing form Alexandria, Louisiana, Juba Norman performs Acoustic Music encompassing a variety of genres such as Blues, classic pop, rock, country, and soul.

Mike Amabile offers a unique blend of Americana, Southern Rock, Folk, Country, and Roots Blues, accompanied by poetic lyrics. His diverse influences range from Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers to Led Zeppelin and Johnny Cash.
