Katy ISD Board Work Study Meeting Set for July 21: Key Budget, Safety, and Policy Items on the Agenda

The Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees will convene for its next Board Work Study Meeting on Monday, July 21, 2025, with the Open Meeting set to begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Katy ISD Education Support Complex Board Room, located at 6301 South Stadium Lane, Katy, Texas 77494.

The meeting is open to the public, and a live stream will be available at the Katy ISD Board Meeting Videos page. For those who wish to follow the detailed discussion, agenda documents will be posted on BoardDocs.com the day of the meeting.

Major Agenda Topics

This Work Study session includes a comprehensive agenda that touches on key aspects of district operations and planning:

  • Approval of May 2025 Financial Reports and July Budget Amendments

  • Review of the 2025–2026 Professional Development Plan

  • Discussion of the Student Code of Conduct and Discipline Management Plan

  • Decision on a good cause exception for armed security officer requirements

  • Endorsements for Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) delegate positions

  • Consideration of a contract for infrastructure improvements at West Memorial Elementary

  • Approval of an Interlocal Agreement with Fort Bend County MUD 173

  • Policy Update 125 and recap of donated items and investment reports

How to Speak at the Meeting

Katy ISD welcomes public participation but follows specific procedures:

  • Only comments on posted agenda items are allowed at Work Study meetings.

  • To register to speak, individuals must email publicrecords@katyisd.org by 2:00 p.m. on July 21, 2025.

  • Your email must include:

    • Full name
    • Specific topic of discussion
    • Mailing address
    • Whether you reside in Katy ISD
    • Whether you have children enrolled in Katy ISD

  • Once at the meeting, speakers must sign in at least 15 minutes before the meeting begins. The sign-in sheet will be located at the entry of the boardroom. Individuals who miss this deadline will not be called to speak.

  • Public comments will begin promptly following the opening of the meeting

Public comment will remain governed by Katy ISD Board Policy BED, which outlines expectations for respectful engagement and topic relevance.

In addition to the July 21 Work Study session, the Board has scheduled its next Regular Board Meeting for July 28, 2025, where formal votes and additional public comment opportunities will take place on broader topics beyond the posted agenda.
