Katy ISD Board of Trustees to Hold April 14 Work Study Meeting: Key Topics Include Budget Amendments, School Renovations, and Discipline Policies

The Katy ISD Board of Trustees will hold its next Board Work Study Meeting on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Board Room of the Education Support Complex, located at 6301 South Stadium Lane, Katy, Texas 77494, and is open to the public both in person and via livestream.

This regularly scheduled work study session will cover a range of important district operations, budget decisions, facility improvements, and instructional resources. Community members are encouraged to tune in to better understand how board actions may impact students, teachers, facilities, and taxpayers across Katy ISD.

How to Watch or Participate

The public can access the meeting through a free livestream service available at the Katy ISD Board Meeting Livestream.

Residents who wish to speak during the Public Comment segment must register in advance. To do so, individuals must email publicrecords@katyisd.org by 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, providing their name, mailing address, topic of discussion, and whether they reside in Katy ISD or have children enrolled in the district. All speakers must sign in at the meeting at least 15 minutes before 5:00 p.m. to confirm their place.

Meeting Agenda Highlights

The April 14 agenda includes both closed and open session items, with a significant portion devoted to facilities contracts, instructional planning, financial reports, and policy discussions. Key topics include:

  • Superintendent’s Annual Evaluation and Contract (Closed Session)

  • Presentation on Katy ISD Discipline Management Plan, focusing on fighting, physical contact, and assault

  • Discussion and consideration of February 2025 Financial Reports

  • April 2025 Budget Amendments

  • Approval of contracts for renovations and additions at several schools, including:

    • Beck Junior High

    • Mayde Creek Elementary & Sundown Elementary

    • Hayes Elementary & McRoberts Elementary

    • Taylor High School (athletic space reconfiguration for student safety)

    • Central Maintenance Facility and Support Services Complex

    • Expansion of Mark L. Hopkins Law Enforcement Center

  • Approval of chiller replacements at Miller Career & Technology Center and Taylor High School Field House

  • Approval of a Cost Sharing Agreement for a left turn lane at Cross Elementary School

  • Portable classroom connections and lab reconfiguration at WoodCreek and Haskett Junior High Schools

  • Approval of an Interlocal Agreement with Cinco MUD No. 7

  • New instructional materials and certification for the 2025-2026 school year

  • Nomination of a Board Member to the TASB Board of Directors (Region 4, Position E)

The meeting will also include standard items such as Pledges of Allegiance, a recap of Board member requests for information, and review of donated items and the Quarterly Investment Report.

Board Work Study Meetings are critical moments for community engagement, giving parents, educators, and stakeholders a chance to learn about the district’s priorities and participate in local governance. From student discipline policies to capital improvement plans and instructional resources, the topics discussed at these meetings directly shape the educational experience across one of the state’s fastest-growing school districts.
