Katy Area Safety Fest Returns to Katy Mills in September
The highly-anticipated Katy Area Safety Fest (KASF) is returning to Katy Mills on Saturday, Sept. 28th. From 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, local residents and visitors from all over the Greater Houston Area alike can take part in this interactive public display of community safety and preparedness, now in its 8th year.
Originating in 2016, the KASF event was initiated by a single agency, the Harris County ESD No. 48 Fire EMS. The event has grown exponentially, with dozens of participating agencies and nonprofits. This expansion has established KASF as the largest multi-agency public safety event not just in Texas, but quite possibly, in the nation.
The event, which is free and open to the public, seeks to educate citizens on public safety, demonstrating that community awareness and dedication significantly impact the degree of preparedness of residents and, ultimately, influences the number of lives saved in emergency situations. The KASF features a diverse mix of personnel, equipment, and activities from a wide range of emergency response agencies, including Fire and Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, Military, and Disaster Services.
Among the many attractions of the event, attendees can look forward to engaging with home and workplace safety information, vehicle extraction demonstrations, as well as law enforcement and fire and emergency management system exhibits. Tours of law enforcement vehicles and firetrucks, along with police and military helicopter landings, make this event highly engaging, informative, and memorable.
For even more interactive fun, families are invited to experience a Firehouse Challenge and the Being Safe is Fun Kids Zone, with its array of inflatables and games designed to make learning about safety a fun experience for kids.
KASF aims to foster a strong bond between community members and the dedicated individuals who serve in the safety and emergency response agencies. Agencies taking part in the event include Fort Bend County Homeland Security and Emergency Management, United States Secret Service, Harris Health System, and the Greater Harris County 911 Emergency Network, Office of Commissioner Lesley Briones, Harris County Precinct 4, among many others.
