Join the Fight Against Cancer at the 9th Annual MD Anderson Boot Walk
On Saturday, November 2, 2024, thousands of supporters will take to the streets in the Texas Medical Center for the ninth annual MD Anderson's Boot Walk to End Cancer®. The objective of this event is not just to spread awareness about cancer, but to decisively stamp out cancer, not just in Texas, but across the nation and the global community.
Every single day, MD Anderson works tirelessly towards the goal of eradicating cancer. From providing emotional support to patients and their loved ones to advancing critical research aimed at curing, slowing, or preventing cancer, their mission of Making Cancer History® is unwavering. This Boot Walk is a way for you to participate in this mission, either by walking the 1.2 miles in person at the Texas Medical Center or virtually, from your own neighborhood anywhere in the world.

John Loper, a survivor of acute myeloid leukemia, along with his wife Lorraine, a 17-year breast cancer survivor, are some of the many people who have experienced the compassionate care and effective treatments MD Anderson offers. Grateful for the life they now get to enjoy, they have committed to giving back by being part of the Boot Walk. John, who faced a misdiagnosis initially, was enrolled in a successful clinical trial at MD Anderson, further reinforcing his and Lorraine's dedication towards MD Anderson..
“I want to give back to the place that took such good care of both me and my wife, and I’m so grateful for every moment I get to spend with my family because of it,” shared John. His fundraising efforts through the Boot Walk, supported by his children and grandchildren, have so far raised nearly $13,000, paying forward the hope and resilience they experienced.
