Join the 22nd Annual YMCA Turkey Dash in Katy This Thanksgiving
Continuing its 22-year tradition of promoting fitness, family fun and community involvement, the YMCA Turkey Dash returns once again for Thanksgiving Day 2024. With Houston Methodist West Hospital returning as the lead sponsor, this year's edition of the YMCA Turkey Dash will be held at the Monty Ballard YMCA at Cinco Ranch, located at 22807 Westheimer Parkway in Katy.
"We proudly support this event that enables YMCA to continue its vital work of strengthening the lives of children and families," said Wayne M. Voss, CEO of Houston Methodist West Hospital. "This engaging event has become a holiday tradition for many in our community."
The annual Turkey Dash, scheduled from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, is designed for participants of all ages and levels of fitness. The event includes a competitive one-mile Children’s Race starting at 7:10 AM; a 10k race at 7:40 AM; a 5K race starting at 8:00 AM; and a 1 mile family run/walk starting at 9:00 AM.
Since its inception in 2002, the event has raised more than $2.5 million in support of the YMCA thanks to generous sponsors including Houston Methodist West Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, Chick-Fil-A Katy Mills, Frost Bank, and others. First organized in 1886, the YMCA of Greater Houston has been a constant presence in the community, dedicated to strengthening the same through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

"Over the years, this popular holiday event has not forgotten its mission: to provide a fun community event for all ages and all levels, promoting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility," said Chris Butsch, District Executive Director of the Katy Area YMCA’s.
Awards for the event include special prize packages to the top three finishers, male and female, in both the 10k run and 5k run, as well as awards for the first-, second-, and third-place finishers in the one-mile children's race. All participants will receive a special finisher medal at the finish line.
