Jersey Village Police Department Corporal and Harris County Sheriff's Office Deputy Honored for Exceptional Service
At the November 2024 general membership luncheon hosted by the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce, two local law enforcement officers were recognized for their outstanding contributions to public safety. Corporal Eric Aldava of the Jersey Village Police Department and Deputy Phillip Miller of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office were named the November First Responder Honorees. Their commendations were presented by the SAR Robert Rankin Chapter Public Service Committee, a group chaired by Tom Jackson, who has been instrumental in honoring first responders in the community.
The monthly luncheon, organized by the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce, aims to bring together community leaders and recognize the heroic efforts of local first responders. Each honoree is presented with one of the National SAR Public Service Medals and Certificates, which are awarded by the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). Tom Jackson, the chair of the SAR Robert Rankin Chapter Public Service Committee, has been dedicated to recognizing the efforts of first responders for many years. Jackson, a well-known local figure in Cy-Fair with a background in business and community service, has played a significant role in bringing attention to the exceptional work of law enforcement personnel.

“These brave individuals are the backbone of our community,” Jackson said. “We are honored to be able to recognize their efforts and continue to promote the values of service and patriotism that have shaped our nation.”
Corporal Eric Aldava of the Jersey Village Police Department was honored for his exceptional performance and dedication to keeping the community safe. Aldava, who began his law enforcement career with the College Station Police Department in 2016, joined Jersey Village PD in 2022. Since then, he has excelled in several roles, including Field Training Officer, Bike Officer, and Intoxilyzer Specialist. Daniel Rodriguez, Patrol Lieutenant with the Jersey Village Police Department, praised Aldava for his proactive approach to policing.
“Corporal Aldava has made over 100 arrests this year, primarily from self-initiated traffic stops, and has shown outstanding skill in addressing criminal behavior during those encounters,” Rodriguez said. “His dedication to public safety has led him to have the highest number of Driving While Intoxicated arrests in the department, which is critical in keeping our roadways safe.”
In addition to his traffic enforcement work, Aldava has proven to be a reliable leader. Rodriguez noted, “Corporal Aldava has demonstrated the ability to take charge and supervise his shift in the absence of his sergeant, all while remaining proactive in his policing efforts. His ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations, such as vehicle pursuits, speaks to his professionalism and tactical expertise.”

Deputy Phillip Miller of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was also recognized for his dedication to both training new recruits and his pivotal role in several criminal investigations. Miller began his career with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office as a Reserve Deputy in 2016 and became a full-time deputy in 2020. He quickly earned a reputation as a hardworking and skilled officer, advancing to Field Training Officer in 2021.
“Deputy Miller is passionate about his role as a trainer, and his dedication to developing new officers has been instrumental in ensuring that our community is protected by the best-trained personnel,” said a representative from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Miller’s accomplishments extend beyond training; he has contributed to significant drug seizures, including the removal of over 80 kilograms of methamphetamine and fentanyl from the streets of Harris County. He also played a critical role in solving a burglary case in Cypress by collecting crucial fingerprint and DNA evidence, which led to the identification and arrest of the suspect. “Deputy Miller’s work is a direct reflection of his commitment to public safety and his dedication to keeping Harris County residents safe,” the Sheriff’s Office spokesperson added.
The Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon not only provides an opportunity to honor local law enforcement officers but also a chance to highlight the importance of community engagement and the tireless work of first responders, recognizing the efforts of local heroes who often go unnoticed. “We are proud to highlight the contributions of officers like Corporal Aldava and Deputy Miller, as we owe a great deal to the men and women who serve on the frontlines,” said Tom Jackson, who chaired the SAR Robert Rankin Chapter Public Service Committee. “Their commitment to keeping our communities safe and serving the public reflects the core values of patriotism and public service."
Both Corporal Aldava and Deputy Miller exemplify the professionalism, dedication, and passion that local law enforcement officers bring to their work every day. Their recognition during the November 2024 Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce luncheon serves as a reminder of the vital role that first responders play in maintaining the safety and security of the community.
