Hearthstone Crime Update: July 2026 Report Shows Increased Patrol Activity, Few Major Crime Incidents
For Hearthstone residents keeping an eye on neighborhood safety, July brought more law enforcement activity than the month before — but most of that increase came from deputies proactively patrolling the community rather than responding to reported crimes.
The Harris County Constable Precinct 5 Beat Activity Report for July 2026 recorded 1,229 total calls and activities in Hearthstone, up from 1,054 in June. The largest category by far was contract checks, with 1,069 recorded during July, compared with 918 the previous month.
That means roughly 87% of the activity documented in the July report consisted of contract checks, reinforcing a familiar pattern for Hearthstone: much of the constable presence residents see throughout the neighborhood is proactive.
July 2026 vs. June 2026: What Changed?
July’s 1,229 total entries represented an increase of 175 from June, or about 17%. Contract checks increased by 151, rising from 918 in June to 1,069 in July.
Several other categories remained relatively small.
Suspicious person calls declined from eight in June to four in July, while suspicious vehicle calls edged up from three to four. Alarm calls increased slightly from three to four, and loud-noise disturbances fell from two to one.
One notable change was a reported stolen vehicle in July, after no vehicle thefts appeared in either the May or June reports. July also included one theft-other report, one criminal mischief report and one family assault report.

June figures are based on the previous monthly Hearthstone report published by My Neighborhood News. July figures are drawn from the Harris County Constable Precinct 5 Beat Activity Report covering July 1-31.
Proactive Patrols Account for Most of July’s Increase
The strongest takeaway from July is not simply that the overall number increased. It is why it increased.
Deputies logged 1,069 contract checks throughout the Hearthstone beat during the month. The report shows those checks taking place on streets throughout the community and at varying hours, including overnight and early-morning patrol activity.
The report also recorded 46 business checks, many along Ameswood Road and FM 529, along with seven school checks, five neighborhood checks and one park check. Deputies additionally logged 14 special assignments during July.
For homeowners and families, those numbers provide important context. A higher total in a monthly constable report does not necessarily mean more crime occurred. In July, the increase was overwhelmingly associated with preventive and visibility-focused law enforcement activity.
Vacation Watches Add Another Layer of Neighborhood Patrol
July also showed significant use of Harris County Precinct 5’s Vacation Watch activity.
Deputies recorded 27 vacation watch checks during the month, with repeated visits to homes on Elmont Drive, Royal Birkdale Street, Willow Bridge Circle and other Hearthstone-area streets.
That service can be especially relevant during the summer travel season, when residents may be away from home for extended periods.
The report also documented 18 “meet the citizen” contacts, another indication that Precinct 5 activity included direct interaction within the community rather than solely responses to emergency or criminal calls.
A Stolen Vehicle Is Worth Watching — Without Losing the Bigger Picture
The July report included one stolen vehicle incident on July 7 in the 14000 block of Muirfield Lane. That stands out because neither May nor June recorded a vehicle theft in the previous monthly comparison.
Still, a single month — and particularly a single incident — does not establish a broader crime trend.
Other reported incidents remained limited. The July report listed one theft-other case on Verde Mar Lane, one criminal mischief report on Runbell Place and one family assault report on Beechmoor Drive. It also included a DWI arrest near Huffmeister Road and Creek Crest Drive.
For residents trying to understand the Hearthstone crime report rather than simply count entries, that distinction is important: July saw substantially more documented law enforcement activity, but the overwhelming majority remained proactive patrol and monitoring activity.
Suspicious Person Calls Fell by Half
One of the more encouraging month-to-month changes involved suspicious person calls.
June recorded eight suspicious person calls, up from four in May. July returned to four.
The July calls included three incidents on Ameswood Road and one on Muirfield Lane. Suspicious vehicle calls totaled four, one more than June.
These categories remain useful for residents because they often reflect neighbors reporting unusual activity before it develops into something more serious. At the same time, a suspicious-person or suspicious-vehicle call should not be interpreted automatically as evidence that a crime occurred.
What July’s Report Means for Hearthstone Residents
Taken as a whole, July’s Harris County Precinct 5 report tells a fairly straightforward story.
Deputy activity increased considerably from June, but proactive contract checks accounted for most of that growth. Serious reported incidents remained comparatively limited, suspicious person calls declined, and deputies continued checking residences, businesses, schools and neighborhood streets throughout Hearthstone.
The one reported vehicle theft is worth noting as residents continue to follow monthly trends, particularly because the previous two reports contained none. But the available July data alone does not indicate a broader surge in vehicle theft or serious property crime.
For families who live here, that broader context may be more useful than any single number. Monthly reports provide a snapshot — not a complete measure of neighborhood safety — but over time they can help residents identify meaningful changes in the types of calls deputies are handling and the amount of proactive patrol work occurring close to home.
Staying Alert as Summer Winds Down
As families prepare for the transition from summer into the new school year, familiar precautions remain worthwhile: lock vehicles, avoid leaving valuables visible inside cars, secure garages and gates, and report activity that appears genuinely suspicious.
Residents traveling can also consider using Harris County Precinct 5’s Vacation Watch program, an activity that was clearly reflected throughout July’s report.
The next monthly constable report will provide another point of comparison and help show whether July’s increase in patrol activity continues into August.
