Happy, Healthy Hearts – Move More, Eat Healthy, and Get Screened with Harris County Public Health

February 02 2024

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States and Harris County. Every 33 seconds, someone in the U.S. loses their life to cardiovascular disease. In 2021, approximately 695,000 people died due to heart disease; however, there are many ways to reduce the risk of heart disease. February is American Heart Month, and Harris County Public Health (HCPH) wants to remind residents about the significance of caring for their hearts.

In honor of American Heart Month, HCPH has organized two community events to highlight strategies to reduce heart disease risk. Visit HCPH's social media (@hcphtx
