Greater Cypress Sports League Opens Registration for Fall 2024 NFL Flag Football Season, Expands to Jersey Village

July 02 2024

Greater Cypress Sports League (GCSL), a longstanding player in youth sports and a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, has opened registration for its NFL flag football season fall 2024. The league, which was established to provide young athletes with the opportunity to play competitive sports in a wholesome environment, is now extending its reach to include new locations in Jersey Village.

Flag football is a no-contact version of the beloved American sport. Players wear flags on a belt, and the goal of the opposing team is to "tackle" the person in possession of the ball by pulling off one or both of their flags. With the NFL FLAG stamp of approval, GCSL has distinguished itself as part of the largest and most recognized flag football organization in the U.S.

GCSL's program is co-ed, allowing boys and girls aged 5 to 17 to participate. Whether a beginner or a seasoned player, all skill levels are welcome to join. Teams play 5 on 5, with a maximum of 10 players on each team, ensuring ample opportunity for all participants to be involved in the action.

The league, owned and operated by local couple Jason and Lisa Smith, offers various sports programs for grades K-12. Games are scheduled on Saturdays, making the experience a fun-filled family affair. The Smiths and their team at GCSL are committed to creating the best youth flag football experience in Cypress and beyond.

For those interested in signing up their children for the fall 2024 NFL flag football season, registration is now open. More details on the league, the game rules, and the registration process can be found on the Greater Cypress Sports League website at greatercypresssportsleague.com. Providing quality and inclusive youth sports opportunities, the GCSL continues to grow, fostering athleticism, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among its young participants.
