Grant Smith Appointed as New Principal of Beckendorff Junior High
Katy ISD is pleased to announce the appointment of Grant Smith as the new principal of Beckendorff Junior High. Smith, who has spent over a decade serving in various educational roles within Katy ISD, will officially begin his new position on December 9, 2024.
“I am honored to lead the students and staff at Beckendorff, and I can’t wait to forge the next step in the school’s legacy,” said Smith. “My hope is to lead our students and staff to greatness.”
Smith brings a wealth of experience, having served as both a classroom teacher and campus administrator. He is currently the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at Taylor High School.
“Mr. Smith has demonstrated strong leadership and commitment to supporting his students’ success and growth,” said Dr. Ken Gregorski, Superintendent of Katy ISD. “I know that he will do a great job at Beckendorff, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact he will make there.”

Smith earned his Master of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas and holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Texas at Austin.
Smith’s appointment comes after the announcement of Paul Moussavi’s retirement. Moussavi, who has served as Beckendorff Junior High’s principal for many years, is retiring after 29 years in public education.
