Graeme McDaniel Foundation Prepares for 2nd Annual Graeme’s Gala: A Night of Elegance and Heartfelt Giving
The Graeme McDaniel Foundation is preparing for its 2nd Annual Graeme’s Gala, a night of black-tie elegance and heartfelt giving, scheduled for Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Beckendorff Farms in Katy.
The evening will provide attendees the chance to hear moving stories from local cardiology experts and families personally affected by congenital heart defects, along with cocktails, fine dining, and live entertainment. Attendees will also have plenty of opportunities to support the Foundation’s mission through silent and live auctions as well as a paddle raise. The event is a key component of the Foundation's fundraising efforts, with last year's gala having brought in close to $300,000. This year, the Foundation is aiming to raise another $300,000.
The Foundation was established to honor the memory of Graeme McDaniel, a Katy resident who was born with multiple heart defects. Despite the challenges he faced, including undergoing two surgeries and spending the first couple of months of his life in the NICU, Graeme was known for his infectious smile and brought joy to everyone he met. He tragically passed away in May of 2015 at just two and a half years old, but his life has left an indelible mark on the community.
Graeme's resilient spirit continues to be an inspiration for the Foundation, which seeks to support research into congenital heart defects, the most common birth defect in the nation. Proceeds from the Foundation's fundraising efforts also provide crucial support to families making the difficult journey for medical care. In addition to the annual Gala, the Foundation also hosts Graeme’s Run at No Label Brewing Co., a popular event that further promotes awareness and raises funds for their mission.
