Governors Place Joins Forces with HCESD 48 and ABC13 for Holiday Food & Toy Drive

November 13 2025

As the holiday season kicks off, the Governors Place community is stepping up in a big way to bring joy and relief to local families in need. In a heartwarming collaboration, the Governors Place Homeowners Association has partnered with Harris County Emergency Services District #48 (HCESD 48) and ABC13’s “Share Your Holidays” campaign to host a special Holiday Food and Toy Drive.

Residents are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items to the Governors Place Clubhouse, located at 335 Governors Place Drive, by 5:00 PM on Tuesday, November 25. This meaningful community effort directly supports the Houston Food Bank and local children through the HCESD 48 Toy Drive initiative.

To make the evening extra special, the HCESD 48 Fire Truck will be onsite at the clubhouse from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, giving families and little ones a chance to visit with their local first responders and enjoy the festive atmosphere.

This drive is part of ABC13’s well-loved “Share Your Holidays” campaign, which has helped thousands of Houston-area families for over 40 years. With support from sponsors like Amazon and CITGO, and the continued dedication of organizations like HCESD 48, the program helps ensure no child goes without a gift and no family goes hungry during the holidays.

“Bring a toy and give joy!” is the theme for this year's effort—and it’s a reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can brighten someone’s holiday season.

Whether you're new to the neighborhood or a long-time resident, participating in this local food and toy drive is a simple and powerful way to make a difference. Together, Governors Place is proving once again that community spirit shines brightest when neighbors come together to help others.

For those unable to attend in person, ABC13 and the Houston Food Bank have made giving easier than ever. Simply text SYH20252 to 71777 to make a monetary donation directly to the campaign.

Let’s come together and make the 2025 holiday season a little brighter for families in need across Katy and beyond.
