80 Years of Goodwill San Antonio Impact
The new store expands the reach of Goodwill San Antonio, which is celebrating 80 years as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit social enterprise. Founded in 1945 on the South Side of San Antonio, the organization now serves a 24-county territory focused on workforce development.
While many know Goodwill for thrift shopping and donation centers, its retail operations fund programs that change lives. Last year alone:
- 1,506 individuals gained employment
- 975 individuals earned above 200% of the Federal Poverty Level through Goodwill Academy & Career Services
- 1.2 million donation events helped support training and placement services
- 37 business services contracts employed more than 700 team members
Programs include career training, employment placement, reentry services and youth workforce development — resources that strengthen families and local economies.
