George Ranch to Celebrate 200 Years of History and Education with Rodeo Extravaganza on May 3-4
Step back in time to experience and honor the legacy of the oldest and largest ranch in Texas, the George Ranch. This year, the ranch is preparing to celebrate a momentous milestone — its 200th anniversary. With 22,000 acres of fertile land and a rich history dating back to 1824, the George Ranch has a strong foundation of transforming historical education through interactive experiences.
Originally known as the George Ranch Historical Park, the education facility was established in 1990 and has since been managed by the Fort Bend History Association. Having hosted over 20,000 students each year for field trips surrounding history, art, agriculture, English language arts, and much more, the George Ranch has been and continues to be a nurturing learning environment for Fort Bend County students.
The Historic George Ranch Association (HGRA), a 501c3 non-profit entity, was formed in 2024 to manage the George Ranch. With the help of three Directors and an Executive Board made up of eight members, the HGRA continues the mission of spreading education and enriching youth experiences at the ranch.
Marking its 200th anniversary is an occasion for celebration of the George Ranch's rich history and dedication to education. The festivities planned included the unveiling of a new state-of-the-art Visitor Center and Black Cowboy Student Education Day, which took place this past February, as well as George Ranch Frontier Days coming up in November, and a pinnacle event — a multi-day sanctioned rodeo.
The rodeo will be the highlight of the celebratory activities, offering arena seating for a unique up-close experience of heart-racing, dirt-flying action. From food trucks for a unique dining adventure to games and activities for all, this CPRA-sanctioned rodeo extravaganza is not to be missed.
Join in commemorating the milestone anniversary on Friday, May 3rd for a Midway with food trucks, and on Saturday, May 4th for a Midway with food trucks, games, and activities. The doors open both days at 6:00pm, and the rodeo starts at 7:30pm.
Ticket prices range from standing room for $10 adults and $5 for children ages 4-12 to VIP seats for $100 for adults 21 and up, which include hors d'oeuvres, private bar, two drink tickets, and premium seating. Proceeds from this event will fund George Ranch's mission of youth education and support of local teachers and schools.
Celebrate the roots of the state of Texas at the George Ranch 200th Anniversary Celebration. Here's to honoring the past, celebrating the present, and cultivating the future.
