Fulshear Officers Help Deliver Baby Amid Emergency
What began as a routine traffic stop quickly turned into a life-saving mission for two officers from the Fulshear Police Department. In the early morning hours of January 25, 2025, Sergeant Brandon Moseley and Officer Kyle Simpson stopped a vehicle for speeding, only to discover that the passenger inside was in active labor.
The driver, desperate for assistance, informed the officers that his wife was about to give birth. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the officers immediately took action, providing an emergency escort to Memorial Hermann in Katy. Their swift response ensured the family arrived at the hospital safely, and within minutes of their arrival, a healthy baby boy, Jack, was born.
For law enforcement officers, unpredictable situations come with the job, but few are as rewarding as helping to bring a new life into the world. The officers later had the opportunity to reunite with Jack’s parents and meet the newborn they helped usher into safety.

“A police officer’s career is often filled with challenges, but moments like this are truly rewarding,” said Captain Mike McCoy of the Fulshear Police Department. “Bringing a positive outcome to a critical situation is exactly what we strive for every day at this department.”
Labor and delivery emergencies such as this are not uncommon. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 35,000 births occur annually in the United States outside of a hospital setting, with a significant number happening en route to a medical facility. While most deliveries occur without major complications, timely arrival at a hospital remains crucial in ensuring the safety of both mother and baby, particularly in cases where medical intervention may be necessary.
Thanks to the quick thinking and decisive action of these two officers, one Fulshear family experienced the best possible outcome during a high-stress moment. Their story serves as a testament to the role law enforcement plays beyond crime prevention—one that includes safeguarding lives in ways that are sometimes unexpected but deeply impactful.
