For Fulshear families, National Night Out is designed around a simple idea that can make a meaningful difference in a growing community: neighbors who know one another — and know the first responders who serve them — can help create stronger, safer neighborhoods.

The Fulshear Police Department will host National Night Out 2026 on Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m., inviting residents to gather on neighborhood streets or stop by Fulshear City Hall for an evening of conversation, community building and public safety.

Residents are encouraged to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors, head outside and spend time getting acquainted with nearby families and local officers. Neighborhoods planning their own National Night Out block parties can also register for a visit from the Fulshear Police Department.

Fulshear Neighborhoods Can Register National Night Out Block Parties

Neighborhood associations, streets and groups organizing a National Night Out gathering can request an officer visit by contacting Fulshear Police Captain Mike McCoy at mmccoy@fulsheartexas.gov. 

Registrations should include the block party organizer's name, phone number and the address where the gathering will take place.

Fulshear police officers will make stops at registered neighborhood events between 6 and 8 p.m. on Oct. 6, giving residents an opportunity to meet officers face-to-face, ask questions, take photos and spend time together outside the setting of an emergency or traffic stop.

The deadline to register a neighborhood National Night Out event is Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026.

The neighborhood-based approach fits closely with the department's broader emphasis on community-oriented policing. The Fulshear Police Department says partnerships with residents and businesses are central to its mission of protecting lives and property and improving community safety. Its outreach efforts have included National Night Out, Coffee with the Cops, Citizens Police Academy programs, HOA meetings, public safety fairs and numerous youth-focused activities.

No Block Party? National Night Out Is Coming to Fulshear City Hall

Residents do not need to live in a neighborhood hosting an organized gathering to participate.

The Fulshear Police Department will also hold a community National Night Out event from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Fulshear City Hall parking lot at 6611 W. Cross Creek Bend Lane. The address is part of the city's municipal complex.

Families will be able to explore police and fire vehicles and equipment, talk with Fulshear police officers and first responders, meet K-9 Blu and spend time with community mascot Sergeant McCann.

K-9 Blu serves with the Fulshear Police Department as part of its K-9 and recruiting operations, according to the department's current personnel roster. Captain Mike McCoy is also listed among the department's command staff.

For children, opportunities to see emergency vehicles up close or meet a police K-9 can make the night memorable. For adults, the event offers something equally important: a chance to talk with the people responsible for responding when their neighborhood needs help.

Why National Night Out Matters in a Growing Fulshear

As Fulshear continues to add homes, businesses and new residents, community relationships can become an increasingly important part of maintaining the small-town connections many residents value.

National Night Out creates an informal setting for those relationships to develop.

Instead of meeting an officer during an emergency, families can ask everyday questions about public safety. New neighbors can introduce themselves across a driveway or cul-de-sac. Children can become more comfortable recognizing first responders. Residents may also leave knowing one or two more people on their street than they did before.

That relationship-building reflects the philosophy outlined by Fulshear Police Chief Kenny Seymour, who has emphasized preventing crime and solving community problems through partnerships with residents rather than focusing only on responding after crimes occur.

For a rapidly changing community, that makes National Night Out about more than a single evening. It is an opportunity to strengthen the connections that can help neighborhoods look out for one another throughout the year.
