Fulshear Families Invited to Free Throwback Movie Mornings at Fulshear Branch Library This Summer

May 27 2025

This summer, the Fulshear Branch Library is turning up the nostalgia and turning down the heat with a free “Saturday Morning Movie Throwback” series designed for families with kids of all ages. Beginning June 7 and running every Saturday morning through the end of July, this weekly event offers a cozy, kid-friendly way for Fulshear-area families to enjoy timeless cinematic favorites together in air-conditioned comfort.

Hosted by the Youth Services department of Fort Bend County Libraries, the series will screen classic family films starting at 10:15 a.m. in the library’s Meeting Room, located at 6350 GM Library Road, just north of FM 1092 off Texas Heritage Parkway.

While the library’s licensing agreement restricts public promotion of movie titles outside the building, staff have provided detailed descriptions to help parents and caregivers plan ahead for age-appropriate viewing.

June’s Movie Lineup: Wholesome Entertainment for All Ages

Here’s a look at what’s showing this June at the Fulshear Branch Library’s Saturday morning series:

  • June 7 – A beautifully animated tale retelling a beloved French fairy tale of a brave girl named Belle and a cursed prince hidden in beastly form. With themes of love, sacrifice, and inner beauty, this timeless story is rated G and perfect for young viewers.

  • June 14 – Join the Muppets on the high seas in this hilarious, puppet-filled adaptation of Treasure Island. With stars like Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy leading the way, the film’s light-hearted take on the classic adventure is a guaranteed hit for both kids and nostalgic adults. Rated G.

  • June 21 – Animal lovers won’t want to miss this heartwarming 1993 adventure of two dogs and a cat who brave the wilderness in search of their family. Filled with humor and courage, this film reminds audiences of the bonds between pets and people. Rated G.

  • June 28 – A darker animated gem from Disney’s archives takes center stage as a young hero battles a powerful evil to save his magical land. Based on Lloyd Alexander’s “The Chronicles of Prydain,” this PG-rated film marks a bold moment in Disney animation history.

Tom's Fun Band Performance

The Fulshear Branch Library will host “The Science of Sound” by Tom’s Fun Band on Wednesday, June 11 at 3:00 and 4:00 p.m., as part of the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge. Held at 6350 GM Library Road, this fun, interactive show teaches kids how sound is made using instruments like the trumpet, flute, and guitar.

Designed for all ages, the program encourages children to sing, move, and explore sound through music. Free tickets are required and will be handed out one hour before each session. Space is limited and no late entry is allowed.

Family-Focused, Community-Friendly

Admission to all screenings is free and open to the public, making it a budget-friendly way for local families to bond while escaping the summer heat. However, children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver to attend.

Fulshear families looking for indoor activities that combine nostalgia, community, and air conditioning will find the Saturday Morning Movie Throwback series a welcome weekend treat. With stories of adventure, magic, and friendship on the screen, it’s a feel-good tradition in the making.
