For Lakemont parents who have ever reached the point in the evening when a math problem, reading assignment or upcoming test suddenly becomes a family project, a nearby Fort Bend County Libraries program may offer some welcome support.

The library system’s Teacher in the Library program provides free after-school homework assistance for students in grades 3 through 6, and one of the participating locations is the Mission Bend Branch Library, making the service especially convenient for families in and around Lakemont.

There is no charge to participate, and no appointment is needed.

Free Homework Help Close to Lakemont

Through Teacher in the Library, qualified teachers are available to help students complete homework assignments, prepare for tests, improve study habits, learn how to use library databases and electronic resources, and build confidence with schoolwork.

For Lakemont families, the Mission Bend Branch Library is the nearby participating location. It is part of the Fort Bend County Libraries system and offers students a place to bring the assignments they are already working on and get help from an experienced educator in a library setting.

The program is offered Monday through Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m., giving families an after-school option that does not require a standing tutoring appointment or added cost.

More Than Help With Tonight’s Assignment

Teacher in the Library is designed to support what students are learning in school rather than replace classroom instruction.

That can mean working through a difficult worksheet, reviewing material before a test or learning better ways to organize assignments and study. Teachers can also introduce students to digital research tools and other educational resources available through Fort Bend County Libraries.

The drop-in format gives families flexibility. Students can use the service when they need it rather than committing to a regular tutoring schedule.

For Lakemont residents, the Mission Bend Branch Library may be the most convenient option among the three participating locations.

Qualified teachers are available during program hours, and families do not need to register or make an appointment in advance.

A Practical Resource for the School Year

Formal tutoring can be helpful, but it is not always necessary or practical for every family. Sometimes a student simply needs another explanation, a little extra guidance or a quiet place to work through a challenging assignment.

Teacher in the Library gives Lakemont families another local option while also helping students become more familiar with the educational resources available through the public library.
