Fort Bend Transit Launches Everbridge Alert System to Keep Riders Informed in Real Time
Fort Bend Transit is rolling out a new communication tool designed to make transit easier and more reliable for its thousands of riders. On May 5, 2025, the agency will officially launch FBTAlerts, a real-time alert system powered by Everbridge, giving riders instant updates on route changes, service delays, and weather-related disruptions.
The new tool comes at a time when real-time transit communication is more important than ever for riders balancing daily commutes, appointments, and errands. With nearly 330,000 annual passenger trips across Fort Bend and Harris counties, keeping riders informed is central to Fort Bend Transit’s mission of providing safe, efficient, and responsive public transportation.
How It Works: Instant Transit Updates on Your Phone
Riders can sign up for FBTAlerts starting April 28 by visiting Fort Bend Transit’s website. Once registered, users can choose to receive updates via text message or email, ensuring they stay in the loop no matter where they are.
“Communication is key when it comes to public transportation,” said Perri D’Armond, Transit Director for Fort Bend Transit. “This system gives us the ability to notify our riders immediately about anything that might impact their commute.”

The system will cover both Demand Response services—a curb-to-curb ride service available throughout Fort Bend County—and the Commuter Park and Ride services, which operate Monday through Friday from three key locations: the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Rosenberg, the University of Houston – Sugar Land, and the AMC First Colony Theater in Sugar Land. These commuter routes connect residents to major employment hubs like the Texas Medical Center, Greenway Plaza, and Downtown Houston.
Enhancing Rider Experience Across Fort Bend
FBTAlerts adds a new layer of reliability to a system that already includes convenient features like the Guaranteed Ride Home Program, which offers emergency rides to registered riders, and a planned Westpark Park and Ride facility near Cinco Ranch, expected to be completed by April 28, 2025.
With more service enhancements on the horizon—including expanded commuter options and new connections to the Energy Corridor—Fort Bend Transit is continuing to grow its network while improving the rider experience. The introduction of FBTAlerts is the latest step toward delivering smarter, more responsive public transportation in one of the fastest-growing regions in Texas.
