Building on a Legacy of Community Gardening
Kendleton Farm has been the site of multiple community-focused initiatives, including the U-Pick Program. In Fall 2024, the county launched the Fall Weekly U-Pick Program at Bates Allen Park in Kendleton, providing local families the opportunity to harvest fresh collards, mustards, and radishes free of charge while addressing local food insecurity concerns. A key partner in both initiatives, Lucille’s 1913, has been at the forefront of combating hunger through community farming and food distribution efforts.
